Can anyone recommend a good all inclusive hotel or resort that caters mainly for families?
I will be looking at early October.
Also any cheap places to book online?

Altamar apartments Puerto RICO we love it . Had a fab two bed apartment. You can book through Thomas cook or direct holidays.
I would have to agree with vicjayhay, the Altamar is fab we loved it too but we stayed SC but next time it will be AI
