It will be good for sure..see Larnaca for weather above for the next seven days, it will be the same..have a good time..

We don't have weather here on Cyprus, you have weather in the UK, it is the same here with only varying degrees of temperatures, May & June probably the best time of the year here for weather, July & August are awful, hot sweaty and not the time to be on Cyprus unless you are a heat fanatic or a sadist!
September, October and even November are ok, as late as mid December for the beach, after that it is hit or miss highs in the day around the mid 60's to lows at night mid 50's with the chance of the odd thunder storm and very high winds, even whirlwinds in winter, but rarely that cold at sea level, where I live we even had one degree of frost once!!! the birds did not know what to make of it!!

Hi Jim :D

I still think that is one of your best ever piccies

Last September when we were over with my granchildren it was a heat wave

and far to hot to be comfortable........especially at night.

December was beautiful.........cooler and much more pleasant during the

day...........still got a tan

Thank you Helen..

I have to admit it is not my photo, I did take one from that position but my knees were knocking and it came out blurred, or it may have been me shaking, it was frightening, the noise was amazing, we had several whirlwinds that day one of them travelled down to Limassol and killed an unfortunate goat..they all had Souvla that night..

Gosh Jim you can't imagine it sitting here

ooooh souvla........... now my mouths watering

I have a Cypriot friend who told me that the other day it was 42C, even said on the news. That's in Nicosia though.

Sorry it is just not true, but for sure Nicosia is the warmest city on the island, due to it's inland position and it's high density of concrete..I watch the local news every day, I think it would have been spotted don't you? today is much better cooler and a lot nicer for everyone on the island!, do you think I would not tell the truth? I have lived here for some years now, I have nothing to gain by exaggerating inflated or lower temperatures, unfortunately for me and others is they probably do not know how to take these temperatures correctly..(maybe good for the tourist trade

Did you know all building work should stop at 30c, I have seen no evidence of this they are happily nailing and knocking by us all day!

To be honest I am very bored with this, take it from me that it is warm enough here, and certainly warm enough for you to crisp up nicely, but for sure it has not got to those temperatures for many years in the holiday resorts, this maybe the year who knows, but when or should I say if it does I promise to post that it has.. :wave

Hi

Have just been reading about the temperatures ----- dunno if this helps the debate but I contacted the Met Office in the UK after a holiday in Pafos last year as it was recorded as 32 in Pafos and in the UK at the same time. We had put a thermometer out in the sun while we were there and it went way past 50 degrees ..... the ones in town were hitting way over 40.

When I queried it they explained about the way the temperatures are taken in Cyprus - in a shaded place so many feet off the floor and there is no diect sunlight.

It made me think of the way we have wind chill factors in the Winter --- its amazing the effect that the wind has on a cold temperature --- brrrr.
I imagine that it works the same in Cyprus ----- its like a 'sun factor' --- in the direct sun it feels sooooooooooooooooo much hotter than the UK --- and am I right in thinking that the sun is 'stronger'????

Don't know if this is right but its helped us to work out why it feels so much hotter in Cyprus than in the UK ---- even when the temperatures given seem pretty low! I'm sure someone can give a more technical reason but this suits us !!!!!

Cheers everyone

Gosh 20 degrees in Stoke today --------------- a heatwave ---------- and its luverly!

 I know what you mean about Temps aswell.....when we were last In Protaras, we had a Thermometer near the Pool........and It hit 42 degrees  ......... I think It would be too HOT to stay out and sunbathe If It was that hot all the time.......

We are often amazed that when we're in Pafos (we have to come mid August!) when we are cool in our room if its 23 degrees with air con - here we're flaking out at that! I find it hard when they just say its 32 degrees over there --------------- I think its a bit misleading if you've never been before ------------- then again we love the heat so no probs so far.

Let us know what its like when you get back ---

(PS : Re Leeds Utd ------- my brother was a fanatic and loved Billy Bremner (is that right) ----- now I stick close to home with Port Vale ----- yes ok, sad I know! My boss at work is Leeds mad though so I still suffer when they don't do well!)

Presto it feels so much hotter here is because it is, we are over two thousand miles further south and east..plus the summers here are usually seven months long with little releif from the sun..you will have your UK summer in a couple of weeks, I had 54 years of them..

For the past 5yrs they have a thermometer in the shade at the hotel and it has shown 42c.
Belive me I work and live in the Middle East and get temps of 48c (in the shade)and the temp shown on the hotel thermometer is not far out.Normally Ayia Napa area is hotter than Paphos.
