Oh dear! Now we have a problem with the Germans
Road safety statistics could have sold it better to them, but that's not the "fashion" of the day, is it.?
"Waste not want not" is a good saying, but we now live in a "throw away" society, things are not built to last a considerable length of time and are more economical to sling on the land sites.
I was one of those "loonies" who was protesting over 20 years ago about crude oil being spilt around the world from the tankers that were being used (mainly from "poor" countries) and the amount of rain forests that were being hacked down.
I'm not talking about a few trees in the park for a bit of bolster wood . I'm talking about the vast areas of natural habitat of endangered species and the displacement of the indigenous people and guess what? over 20 years later, they are still doing it.
They thought that planting a few saplings to ease the conscience of business consortiums would make them sleep better at night, but the "equilibrium" will take many hundreds of years to gain back if ever.!
Oh, but I remembered being taught at school about the process of photosynthesis and how plants take in C02 and give off oxygen and all the oxygen in the atmosphere is the result of plants giving off more oxygen than they need yes, take a deep breath people.
When fossil fuels are burnt, like the "dirty" coal being used in China, the carbon molecules are released into the atmosphere"¦the carbon is "fixed" and out of the natural carbon cycle in fossil form, and only through mans intervention (burning) do these molecules get released.
Do we need aerosols.? Do we need all the chemical names on the back of a bottle of body lotion.?
Do we need to eat strawberries at Christmas that have been grown in some third world country and air freighted to the UK.? No we don't, but the people who grow this food do, in order to give themselves a chance of lifting themselves out of poverty.
I'm sick of it to be honest, aviation is not the biggest polluter of the world, fair enough, over 20 years ago there were not that many planes in the skies, apart from military ones, but it accounts to a small percentage in the big picture and if every citizen in the UK went totally "green" tomorrow we would just be peeing in the wind it is a lost cause whilever industry and other nations do not clean their act up.
It's a tax that's a "soft" tax, nobody is going to immediately die and nobody is going to war over it, but we'll brainwash the people with these predicted figures whilst ignoring industry and the fact that the planet called the sun has an effect on the earth's temperature and also ignore the fact that other planets in our solar system are also warming up....why don't they give us all the whole truth and not pick the bits out they want us to hear.?
The next time the earth naturally releases the heat from its core by making a volcano erupt wait for the headlines
Global warming is to blame for X volcano erupting.
If we are gonna do it, then let us ALL do it, each and every one who walks on this planet and if not, then enjoy your flight to "wherever" this summer, knowing you're putting money in the coffer of the government.(any government)
