I'm going to Cyprus for the 1st time in May, we usually go to Turkey but fancied a changed and everyone I know who's been to Cyprus loved it. Does anyone have any advice of the best way to book (through a regular agent or is it cheaper to book flights and accomodation seperate). Also whats the weather like at the end of May?
Any advice greatly appreciated!

We are planning on going to the Paphos area in October but need to know a couple of thing. What is the cost of living like compared to the U.K and is Paphos ok for our 15 year old son. We would be stopping just on the outskirts of Paphos at the Santa Marina appts/villas.
Prices in Cyprus can be cheaper than in the UK but it all depends on where you go.
If you go to a local supermarket and local Cypriot taverns then these are cheaper than restaurants and shops in the tourist area. However, it does vary a lot.
The buses are cheap to use around Paphos. 70c for a ride anywhere in the Paphos area. These are very regular and efficient whenever we have used them.
When we have bought things for our holiday home, we have found that prices are very similar to the UK but with much better service. Free delivery to your home that afternoon etc. We have also found that Cypriots are very willing to barter over the price of goods especially in the market in Paphos and in other shops too.
Taxi's are reasonably cheap too.
I think that Paphos is suitable for a 15 yr old.
There is a waterpark which will be open at that time of year, here is the link to it if you want a look
http://www.paphoswaterpark.com
There are also a few scuba diving schools in Paphos and other watersports.
The beaches around Paphos itself are not that big but there is a larger beach at Coral Bay (short bus ride away) or you can hire a car and explore some of the bays to the west of Paphos or other parts of the island.
There are many bars and restaurants in and around Paphos itself.
There are also historical sites to visit such as Tombs of the Kings and the famous mosaics.
Hope this helps a bit, sorry but I don't know the Santa Marina Apts. so can't comment on them.
It has been of great help, can't thank you enough.
First timers to Cyprus. Going next year to Nissi beach....., staying at the Tasia Maris Hotel, anyone been, any tips etc. We booked with Thomsons but are flying with Cyplon Air. I can't find any info about this airline, as I would like to prebook the seats. can anyone help, thanks lorraine x
http://www.cyplon.com
i am not aware that they have their own airline they usually use Cyprus airways or Helios which is now know as Ajet.

As Elizabeth said, Cyplon are the Tour Operator and not the Airline.
Thanks, my mistake, i just assumed they were the airline .
Me and my hubby went to Tasia Maris Hotel last July for our honeymoon and its the best hotel we've ever been to. My parents also went in May this year, and they also loved it. Also, theres no kids allowed in this hotel, which makes it a nice peaceful hotel, not that i dont like kids or anything, but its just nice to have a kids free zone!!!
Everything about the hotel is fantasic. The food, the staff, the pool, brilliant. As you can tell, i love this place!!!!!
Nissi beach is a lovely place. We didnt actually make it to the Nissi beach itself, but just behind the hotel is a small beach called Sandy Beach. Its a lovely little beach, and theres a nice sea breeze, so you get a little relief from the heat!!!
Ive never heard of Cyplon Airlines sorry, so im not too sure how to pre-book seats. Thomson must have a number to contact them on.
Wish we could go back, but just havent got the money!!
You will have a fantastic time!!!! xxx
If you contact CTO in London they will send you maps and booklets free of charge I got maps of Paphos this year that were very useful
Somebody please give me some tips.
You may have been better off starting a new thread on this one, but anyway
If you are after family-friendly I would recommend either Protaras or Paphos. If you want beaches I would lean towards Protaras. Although I am aware of nice beaches near Paphos, I am aware of lots more at Protaras. If you want history I would say Paphos.
Either way I am sure that you will have a great time.
Hope this helps

Tasia Maris Hotel sounds good! Which tour operators use this hotel?
Its mainly Thomson and Portland Direct who use the Tasia Maris Hotel. Also, its Thomson Gold so wont be in a normal summer brochure. Portland Direct are slightly cheaper than Thomson, thats who i booked with.
Thanks Sunnyessex
I to will be a first timer to Cyprus but have not booked up yet. I'm after a family friendly all inclusive hotel, don't know which resort is the best, but no one seems to be helping me
Somebody please give me some tips.
Hi Cazz
The Anastasia Hotel In Pernera Is AI......... and what a location!
Youre around 100metres away from a lovely little bay....... great for snorkelling....... and just metres away from Bars, Restaurants, and a few shops.
Pernera Is really lovely.
A few years ago we stayed next door to the Anastasia, the Marlita Beach. We thought It was perfect.
If you want any more advice fire away........ we go back In 33 days .....cant wait!!
OOh, meant to add that If you take the coastal walk towards Protaras, It only takes around 10 minutes and Its beautiful...... right by the edge of the sea..... It can get pretty warm to Hot In the Summer months though!
