I dont know if anybody else has had flight cancellations though Helios Airways recently and is experiencing the same communications block from Helios, that I seem to be experiencing.
Helios cancelled our flight to Paphos (17 june 2006), by way of a phone call on the 13th of this month. Although, they did offer us a flight on the same day, but landing at Larnaca. However, I refused this offer due to the cost of transfer (which they were not prepared to provide) the time involved getting to and from Paphos/Larnaca.
I've had no communication by letter confirming this cancellation, also I had asked for a conformation of the refund back to my credit card, but again I have heard nothing from Helios.
I sent them an email 2 weeks ago regarding compensation for the following; having held my money for nearly 9 months, making them interest and not myself, having to book with another airline at a cost of £60 extra, change of parking costs, loss of deposit on hotel booked at airport (due to different flight times) and phone calls to customer services Cyprus (Helios UK were not interested in helping me) and postage costs, again nothing heard.
Perhaps, I expect to much and should just cut my losses and be thankful I was able to get another flight for the same dates.
What are your views, as I would be interested to here?

With all due respect to you and anyone else emails are not the answer. You need to prove that it has arrived and is being acted upon. Should you need to take legal action then it would be difficult to prove that they had recieved it.
We have problems with our own computers so why do we assume that others do not.
I cannot comment on how you stand with your claim, no doubt some other member may be able to help.

Thanks for your advice. I returned our tickets recorded delivery and yes, I should have thought to do the same with a letter of complaint.
Also, I should have read the small print, especially since they have given me notice of the cancellation. But it was not so much about the money, really more a matter of principle and the shoddy way they communicate with their customers.
I have decieded not to pursue the matter. But this was to be our fourth time of flying with them, so we shall vote with our feet and steer clear of Helios in the future.
