We have flown Globespan to Cyprus for the past 3 years. This year we were delayed 4+ hours on outward flight but only matter of 45 mins or so on the return flights. However, their flight times to Cyprus from Glasgow are absolute rubbish but hey ho the prices were cheapest I could find anywhere. Two adults return to Paphos £356. So shouldn't complain. Cabin staff have always been pleasant and the aircraft comfortable.

just returned from a week in torremolinos today and our flights were bang on time but we met people who flew out on saturday and were delayed by seven hours with globespan also last week thomson had a delay of 38hrs on the malaga route from glasgow .is it not time that airlines are made to contribute to a general fund to keep a supply of standby planes to help in cases of extreme delay i know it may be hard to manage but if companies want to take your money they should be prepared to deliver the goods .i know the cost would be passed on to the passenger but at least peoples holidays would not be lost, also companies would probably survive a crisis , just wondering if seguro will follow air scotland down the tube after this weeks perfomance

Glad to hear your flght left on time. We are using them for the first time in August Newcastle to ALicante the holiday was £500 cheaper going with them than Thomsons.

The real reason for the Globespan delays last weekend was supposed to be a shortage of cabin staff , I am not aware of any tech breakdowns .
Suppose the staff have to put up with so much abuse they take a sickie .
Out of Edinburgh , the schedules have impossible turn round times ; the Rome/Pula flights are rarely even within an hour of schedule and most nights are well after midnight back . Nice is little better . The management need a rocket , not cabin staff .

Just keeping an eye on the website i have noticed our flight to new york from liverpool on 29th Sept isnt there, if that is the case and they change our flights again it will be the 4th change.
It also means no direct flights from liverpool to new york, is anybody else flying on this date and do they have any news.
It also looks like there are no saturday flights anymore !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Rawson, have you contacted Flyglobespan? What are they saying about your flight? Hope it hasnt changed for you again!

They say its sold out glittergirl, so i am keeping my fingers crossed, although im suprised more people are not posting on this website about whats happening with the New York flights so I can glean some more feedback
Thanks for your concern

Although I was criticised for saying this a month or so, i will repeat it - I will be very surprised if this lot are still operating this time next year.

Oh my god Rawson - what are they giving you for compensation? That is just shocking!!

I am now absolutely terrified of our flights being changed/cancelled again - to the point where i check the flight details every day!! Worst scenario would be if they changed our return flight WHILE WE WERE THERE! I keep imagining being in Florida, phoning up to check the flights etc and being told we've to return 3 days early or something stupid like that.

Do they have rules as to how far in advanced they have to tell you changes? Im sure i read somewhere that they have to tell you of any changes 50 days in advanced or something?

Actually, ill take that question back, as they never actually told us about our flight change last time anyway - we found out when we checked on the flight times randomly. Even though in their terms and conditions it states that they will contact you by email if any changes happen. Load of rubbish :P

Flying with flyglobespan, does anyone know if they weigh cases and luggage together? on website it says total for each person 20 kilos which includes hand luggage. could you have more in case and no hand luggage or just 2 - 3 kilos in hand luggage.

Theresa,
Globespan will weigh your hand luggage if it looks heavy but if it's small they don't usually. So if you have no hand luggage, your cases are allowed 20kg.

Hi there,

Since July 2007 we have been instructed by flyglobespan to be strict on handbaggage and holdbaggage at check in.
Everything gets weighed including ladies handbags. In the terms and conditions, which can be found on their website, a passenger travelling in ecomony is entitled to 20kgs free baggage allowence, this includes handbaggage.

http://www.flyglobespan.com/tandc.asp (scroll down to Baggage Allowance)

For example, a passenger travelling in ecomony with one peice of handbaggage weighing 4kgs and one suitcase to check in weighing 18kg will be charges 2kgs excess baggage because in total they have 22kgs.
this is the same for premium passengers who are allowed a total of 30kgs and business class passengers who are allowed a total of 40kgs per passenger.

I do hope this helps and clears up any confusion but in the last few weeks flyglobespan have come down heavily on handling agents through out the country to charge the correct monies. if you do think you will be over, i do know that you can purchase extra kilos on their website for a reduce rate which i would highly recomend and bring the confirmation to the aiport. As a check in agent I do have to see the proof from flyglobespan that you paid for the extra kilos. :)

Thanks for that Wires :)
I know this might sound silly - but we're going Business Class OUTGOING (40kg) and coming back Premium - im guessing we'll still be 30kg baggage allowance on the return trip even though we're allowed 40kg going? :P
Reply
yes glittergirl you are right, business outgoing your allowed 40kgs and prem return your only allowed 30kgs, if i was you i would buy extra baggage allowance if u think u are going to be over it is alot cheaper to do it before hand! look at their website for more details! dont forget, they are a low cost carrier so anyway they can get money from you they will!

I wonder if Wires or anyone else can advise me on this.
I use a C-pap machine at night for Sleep Apnea. The hospital told me that they would give me a letter saying that it was essential medical equipment and I would be allowed to take it IN ADDITION to the normal baggage allowance and as an additional piece of Hand Luggage.
I phoned Globespan yesterdayto confirm this and was asked a few questions which I'm not sure how to answer.:
1.They want to know how many pieces make up the equipment. Well there is the Box itself, a kind of hose which attaches to the box at one end and attaches to the mouthpiece at the other end, a small plastic bridge which goes over the bridge of the nose and attaches to the mouth piece at one end and to a band round my head at the other. There are 3 straps which hold it in place and an electric lead.
These are , in use ,all connected up, to form one machine for using
Do I say one or nine pieces?
They are all packed in a specially designed hold all which measures (in inches- sorry) 15x11x7 and weighs approximately 5lbs.
Can I take this in hand luggage in addition to a handbag which would mean 2 pieces of hand luggage and does the weight count towards the total luggage allowance
MODS If you think I might get more information from another forum please move this. I did not take it on my last holiday and suffered.
Thanks
Helen
