There is an interesting article in the Sunday Times today about Flyglobespan, the history of the company, the problems of last year, and the plans for the future .... please click here to read it.

Please to inform you that the GSM flight from Manchester today left more or less on time. If it wasnt for a 15 minute air traffic slot delay. Looks like they are getting back into the swing of things now and are mainly running on time. Fingers crossed for when you guys go away.
I did keep looking on the Manchester Airport site and it did keep saying " on time"
The I had to go out and when I got back it had been taken off the list - so I presumed that it had more or less left on time or within an hour of the original slot.
Will try and watch next weeks to see if that gets off ok.
Keeping everything crossed for the 27th that we get off on time and the flight is good
Hi there, I live in the US close to Hamilton, ON and am thinking of taking Globespan from there to Belfast and return for a week-long vacation. Has anyone taken these flights recently? If so, were they reasonably on time? I've never flown this airline before and their schedules and price seem to be quite good. Would like to hear your comments. Thanks!
Anyone know what time the globespan flight to Clagary left Manchester on Friday ??
PhilbyJ, My opinion is that when globespan flights leave on time they cannot really be beaten for value, the big downside is that there scedules are extremely tight especially the Canadien routes which seem to suffer the worst and when they are delayed it is usually a big delay, however I have used them a lot (not to Canada however) and have never had a problem and have found that the flights were excellent and will continue to use them untill I Get a bad experience, I notice that the flight I will be using to Sanford in September was delayed for nearly six hours on Saturday ironically enough because they used the Sanford plane to fly to Vancouver to avoid that flight being delayed, The Saturday Sanford flight has done this before and I am actually a bit nervous about this now. Fingers crossed though because as I say if they can get the flight times sorted they would be right up there, and in my opinion things are improving especially on last year which was horrendous.
Flem, thanks. That's the type of feedback I was looking for. I'll let you know if I book with them. In the meantime, have a great time in Florida!
Thanks
Firstly, welcome to HT
GSM725/6 is operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER. It switches to a 757-200 later in the season. They don't have seat back IFE fitted in prem economy (economy). For more information, refer to GSM's website.
Darren
PS Depending on which flight you are on, some operate via Belfast
Thanks for the quick response Darren.
I am flying out to Calgary from Manchester on the 4th July (its a friday). I will be flying Premium Economy just wondered if there is any IFE on these flights, if so is it over head or on the seat back?
Firstly, welcome to HT
GSM's 763's don't have seat back IFE. They have screens mounted above the isles.
Darren
We flew last Friday from Manchester to Calgary with Globespan 767/300 - the screen was at the front - large flat screen and large enough for all to see.
We had an hour delay - something to do with the fuel and they had to wait for the airport to rectify - loads of leg room and good service througout, the flight passed qucikley and after reading negative reviews on other sites I can honestly say that the flight I was on was first class and I have no complaints.
just hope the flight back is as good
Hi , can anyone let me know how FGS have been performing so far this season from Glasgow to Sanford ?? or know of a site where i can check for myself , they take an awful lot of stick and i'm not sure if it's genuine or people forgetting they really are flying no-frills - 8 of us are going at the end of this month and including flight+Villa we paying only just over £600 each , i don't know any carrier that could have taken us for that price - so i know we won't have all the bells and whsitles on the flight , as long as it goes from A to B in a fairly timely manner i'll be happy.
Hi Iain, I can't answer you question but what I can say is that I read loads of negative reviews on another site and tried to post a postive one..........my positive review hasn't been allowed by the administrators and no reason has been forthcoming as to why.
You are not the first person to have mentioned this. I'm sure it was mentioned in this topic in the past few weeks.
luci
TA seem very down on them
have you posted a review on this site ?? , if so can you direct me to it ??
Thanks
It was myself who tried to post a positive review about Globespan on a diferent site and it was not posted because it was "too positive", the forum in question absolutely slated Globespan and seemed to really have it in for them. To answer your question just about all Globespan-Sanford flights have left within 20 minutes of departure time this year with a few exceptions which occur mainly on a Saturday due to them using the Sanford plane (which is nearly always in Glasgow on time) to fly to Calgary when their plane is late, (which it frequently is), the reason for this is that the plane has quite a long turn-around in Sanford of about five hours so they know that it will make up time for the next day, which it would not do with the quick turn-around on the Canadian flights. If the flights are on time then in my opinion Globespan are hard to beat for service and value and I have used then four times in the last three years and never had a bad flight or experience yet, I am flying them again in September to Sanford (on the dreaded Saturday flight) so hopefully I will feel the same after this. There are various sites you can use to check flight punctuality but I dont know if I am allowed to name any on here but just search on flight tracker and it will give you a few.

This site rates Globespan as 1 star on the majority of reviews - from my own experience it is not a 1 star and for us was a four star, probably one of the best flights - short and long haul I have been on
Following on from the previous story on page 26 of this topic, Flyglobesban has now appeared in court and pleaded guilty to two charges of breaching civil aviation rules, by allowing an aircraft to fly with faulty instruments. It is the first such prosecution brought by the CAA against a British airline in over 10 years. The case has now been deferred for sentencing.
