Hi I booked glasgow to dalaman with globespan. £190 return for June which I thought was a good price. Baggage with them is 20 kg hold + hand. Could I take say 17kg hold and 3 kg hand or does it have to be 15kg hold and 5 kg hold????
also do the planes have any tvs etc??? I didn't think they did and Im pretty sure Turkey isn't classes as long haul!!!
also do they sell duty free?? we usually buy spirits onboard for the apartments, you know two bottles for £15 type thing, do globespan do this or should we stock up at duty free in glasgow??
thanks!
The way I read it, you have a combined luggage allowance of 20kg. As long as your checked in and hand luggage doesn't exceed 20kg, you have can 10kg / 10kg or 17 kg / 3 kg etc. Turkey is classed as short (mid) haul. You don't say when you are flying, but flights should be operated by with Boeing 737's so no IFE. They have it fitted for safety demonstrations, but as it's a low cost airline, not used inflight. They'll come round with the usual array of duty free goods. I can't comment on prices though! The onboard magazine might have prices, click here.
Darren
Just to confirm it is 20kg in total with your baggage so you can make this up anyway between hold and cabin luggage (although your hand luggage cant be over 5kg). Be aware though Globespan are one of the strictest enforcers of luggage weight and if you are intending on having more in any direction I would consider purchasing extra allowance from the web site before you go, it doesn't cost that much.

I thought GSM didn't have a weight restriction on hand luggage up to the 20kg limit? As long as the bag is within size limits and you are physically able to lift it in/out of the overhead bins, you're fine.
Darren
Oops just checked the website, and yes there is no restriction (within your allowed allowance) on hand luggage weight.
we fly June 3rd from Glasgow at 6pm. Im going to be extra careful with baggage as Dalaman weighs everything also!
Good to know we can buy booze on board for the resort!
can any one help, I booked a fight with globespan last July to fly this May to sanford, I booked business class which was advertised at 50" pitch but they are now flying a plane with 42" when I asked globespan about the change they denied ever having a plane with seats at 50" pitch, has any one seen or flew business class with globespan
Welcome onboard
You don't give your flight details (GSM725/6?), but I suspect you were on one of the flights originally operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER that is now a Boeing 757-200. If you are, the flight operates via Bangor for refuelling. The 763's had 50" seat pitch in business class so whoever said they didn't have aircraft with that is wrong. I know because I was looking at flying Manchester to Cape Town on one in business until they pulled the flight. Here's the old seating plan for the 3-class 767-300/ER the operated, they're now only 2-class (business, premium economy). The seats at the front are business class with 50"!

I booked my flights through Travel Republic and just this morning I have read my travel republic confirmation. I have my reference code to book in with but it says I have to reconfirm my flight online? how do I do this? is it on Travel republics site or how do people normally do it when they book direct with flyglobespan??
Flights can be reconfirmed by viewing your booking online. Refer to Flyglobespans website. It's just to ensure your flights are operating as per your schedule and to check there haven't been any changes.
Darren
globespan are to start flying planes with 12 seats in business class with 42" pitch seats can any one tell me what kind of plane it is
iancoulter,
Globespan returns to the black
Scottish travel group Globespan returned to the black last year following a loss-making 2007.
In a trading statement issued ahead of audited accounts, chairman Tom Dalrymple disclosed that the Globespan Group made a profit of £1.2 million in the year to October 2008.
The group, which operates the Flyglobespan airline offering low cost flights and holidays to Canada, the US and continental Europe, posted "significant" unspecified losses for the year ending October 2007 - the first in its 35 year history.
Dalrymple said then that problems on transatlantic routes, caused in particular by the poor performance of two aircraft leased from Icelandair, had been the prime factor in the company's disappointing year.
"I said then that 2007 was a blip - a one-off year in what had been over 30 years of successful trading, and one that wouldn't happen again. And I was right," he said.
"We learned quickly from those experiences. Last year we flew only our own aircraft and the difference has been hugely satisfying - with record load factors for our sector.
"We are back into profit and, had the fuel rises not been so steep, that profit would have been considerably more. But, considering the difficulties of the sector, I have no complaints."
He added: "Despite difficulties caused by the unprecedented increase in the cost of aviation fuel, we have turned round the problems of the previous year and are back into profit.
"I look at how our competitors faired last year and see big names talking about profits down 45%, 47% or even, in one national carrier's case, 92%. That shows how challenging a year it was, and in this context underlines how good our figures are.
"Our customer's loyalty has always been one of our biggest strengths and we don't take this for granted. It is clear that our core business model is working and we are delivering the product that our customers want."
Looking forward, Dalrymple added: "Our outlook for the future is positive. Globespan has no debt, we have cash reserves built up from nearly 35 years of trading and we also have significant property assets."
Group CEO Rick Green said: "Looking forward, our sales and revenues are on plan. Our core routes for 2009 are holding their popularity and our new destinations in Turkey and Egypt are performing exceptionally well.
"We are in a good position but will never get complacent. By continuing to improve the standard of our product and listening to our customers we are confident that we will remain the number one choice for the Scottish travelling public."

globespan is getting a 767-300er G-CZNA from zoom this march can any tell me about seat plan
I hadn't heard that. The seating plan is likely to mirror what flyglobespan currently offer. They won't just put the aircraft in to service with Zoom's configuration, it'll be changed to GSM's specification. It's the same situation when they leased NEOS aircraft the other year. The aircraft will be leased so in effect, will be just another GSM aircraft. ie 42" seat pitch in business!

Any idea as to where i can find the seat configuration for the YYZ(YHM)-BFS-YYZ(YHM) flights GSM176/175? I booked our seats (4 A,B,D,E,F) online and I wanted to show them to my parents. Of course, I can not access the map on the website again. Every B767 seat configuration I find shows row 4 as in business class and these seats were 2nd row economy...couldn't book row 3 (exit row) because of my children being under 16.
Any help would be appreciated
