I can't be of much help, because we went to Cyprus on easter sunday and all we packed for the plane was easter eggs and sweets , surprisingly my son wasn't hyperactive with the sugar overload!
When we stayed in Turkey last summer, we packed fruit and crisps for the airport on our return as we knew what a rip off it was there. Shame we couldn't take drinks through as it cost us £8 for a can of Efes
I've just been reading through my internet banking and was surprised that it only cost us 12pounds for 2 sandwiches and a pasty in Paphos airport last week.
Re fruit - have been put off peaches for life after hubby bought some from a supermarket in the Algarve. He cut it open on a plate and at LEAST 8 earwig type critters scattered across the plate - Shudder!!
This time I will probablys have breakfast in the airport as I have an early flight then greggs for a couple of cakes
We buy small tubs of Pringles (buy same for in the suitcase for return journey) then nip into Greggs to get sarnies/sausage rolls and I take my Boots card to 'buy' kids their drinks airside
boots meal deals are always good value. Sometimes we order pizza the night before and whatevers left pop in the fridge and eat it cold at the airport!
when going home and flying from any italian airport, I really love there toasties
When my parents were still alive my mother would insist on packing me sandwiches and a flask of coffee (pre 9/11) as I'm sure she thought I would starve.
always take some sweets for on the plane and pack a few packets in the suitcase for when we get to apartment , always have breakfast at the airport and then meal in flight so no need to take any thing else with us , depending on return time we usually eat lunch time and then have the inflight meal which see's us through
If we fly long haul, we don't usually have the first meal until about 2 hrs into the flight and so we buy a few snacks at the airport to eat before the meal arrives.
So not many bother with pack up. I think ours stemmed from when we flew from Teesside airport (Durham Tees Vally now) as, being a small airport, there was never much choice food wise.
Dave makes the sarnies and nine times out of ten, they're egg and cucumber or ham and cheese, it just depends what we have left in the fridge the day before....then we just buy a coffee on the plane.
When I went to Oz, I'd have loved one of Dave's egg sarnies on the plane because the food was Taking a few sarnies stems from paying for disgusting in-flight meals that only deserved one place....the pig swill.

the pre security food hall at Munich airport puts many British shopping centres to shame! I buy stuff there to eat when I get home, never mind on the flight!
I think I just like to be prepared for any eventuality and so will always carry at least a boiled egg, some crips and a bottle of water
Prague's airport was ok too Steve we got a lovely baguette and it wasn't expensive. Well done Munich
We always take a picnic when travelling home from Dalaman airport. The prices there are astonomical. We have half a Turkish loaf each filled with a variety of yummy things, hard boiled eggs, some biscuits and very importantly some citrus fruit as you cannot take drinks into the airport and they charge about 2 quid for a tiny bottle of water. We dont always eat everything but at least if there is a delay we won't have to buy their very over priced food.

I nearly always pop into the supermarket on the airport before going to pick up my car. For anyone who hasn't used Munich Airport, in terminal 2 airside you can help yourself to free coffee (only black though)
Unfortunately BA and Easyjet use terminal 1. But Lufthansa and other Star Alliance airlines use 2.
I'm a fan of the Airbräu pub down by the car hire desks. You don't expect an airport to have it's own brewery and a pub with food and beer at town centre prices. Worth getting to the airport early for! And I have carried fresh bread all the way own from the bakers opposite, did get a funny look at Manchester airport passports.
That's the bakery where I buy my cup of coffee (and rhabarberkuchen at this time of year) if I just want a snack. Maybe we'll run into each other one of these days Steve.
