You can book direct with the Taj, but it costs more and you don't get the transport
Might just be us - we found Taj food very good but drink prices were a bit of a shock - virtually the same as U.K. A pint £2.50 and bottle of mineral water £1.50 ouch!!!!! 
Agree with you on that one puddd4, the food was excellent but depending which restaurant even the food could be expensive the Banyan tree i thought was just as expensive as a five star hotel at home, although it was beautiful.
