Looking at the flights I booked for Aug 9th to 24thon the Easyjet site, they would now cost £675.92. The departure is 2 hours later from gatwick and one hour later from Paphos! Price included two bags in hold, no entertainment, nor prebooked seats (they dont do these).
I feel I made the right decision, having made a 2 hour flight with Easy Jet once.
No mention of Tunis at all as far as I can see...
Tunis won't happen I don't think. There is an issue with the Tunisian authorities about low cost airlines flying to Tunis, basically they are not allowed to, probably to protect national airline Tunisair. Therefore easyjet can't fly there even if they want to.
British Airways are however starting their own flights to tunis operated by themselves. The flights now on sale at BA.com are these flights, not GB Airways ones. Your refund won't come until the easyjet takeover is completed. You could however try ringing BA and ask them to move your booking to one of the new BA services. Unlikely but you never know.
As I mentioned above, I'd heard that BA were starting their own flights to Tunis, so presumably they will just transfer me to that as they've had my booking (and money) for some time now. I'm still listed on 'Manage My Booking', with the original flight time and number and showing GB as the airline. I just wish they would pull their finger out and let us know what is happening, as the only info I received from them was ages ago, with the email to say Easy were taking over. If I need to go to Tunis I'm perfectly happy to fly with either BA or Tunisair, both of which offer a decent luggage allowance. Actually I'd really rather be with Tunisair from Heathrow, as it wouldn't involve leaving home at 2 a.m. but I used my Airmiles with BA.
By the way has anyone accepted the email that was sent from GBAirways before Christmas?
Aslemma, if you were to cancel (when possible!) would your refund not be in airmiles? You could then book the Tunisair from Heathrow and have a lie-in!

It certainly didn't help at all but at least it clarifies that anyone travelling on Easyjet can kiss goodbye to the level of service provided by BA, for which we have paid.

Sorry aslemma, but emails from BA should not be reproduced without their permission. Please feel free to summarise the contents in your own words.
I've been reliably informed that an LGW - Tunis flight is on it's way. Keep checking BA's website as new flights have just gone on sale (eg LGW - Paphos from 1st July - 25th October).

Dazbo, you're absolutely brilliant. I've just checked the BA site and they are flying to Tunis on the day I want and at a more convenient time, meaning I don't have to leave home at 2 a.m. The return flight is also a few hours later, but still not too late whilst giving me a few more hours round the pool. It is also cheaper than when I booked, but I can live with that. I presume I'll be transferred to that one, though why on earth they couldn't have told me that in their email, rather than repeat the mantra in their original spiel, telling me that nothing could be done at present I'll never know. Very bad customer relations in my opinion.
Please do not assume that you will be transferred - please check with BA and instruct them to do it! It may be that you are still contracted to fly with GB. After the take-over it looks like easyJet will not operate that flight and thus all you will get is a refund and no flight.
To be absolutely safe, it may be best to book the BA flights and then get a refund of your original booking when that becomes allowed by easyJet.
Cheers,
Jet
I was wondering ahout that Jet. The reply I got from BA simply repeated what they had said in their original email about Easy giving the refund if and when they took over. The cost isn't a problem but I'm concerned that if I book with BA (at the reduced price it is now) and they then tell me I've been transferred to that flight, would they cross-check and refuse the refund because I'd jumped the gun. I'd be grateful if anyone has any thoughts on this. Incidentally the flight arrives in Tunis at 16.50 and returns at 17.35 so it is quite a short turnround time.
Changing your booking to BA would mean it changing airlines. Now there is every chance BA would change your booking, due to the franchise etc, there is however equal chance that they won't. I certainly wouldn't just expect them to though. I would ring BA and actually speak to someone and see if they will change your booking. If not, or if they can't give you a definate answer, I would just book the new flights and await a refund when the GB sale happens.
Regards refusing you a refund. They did state n the first email that people not happy with the alternative flights after March 30th would be entitled to a refund. I seriously doubt they could refuse you one whatever happens.
I hope we're right in our assumptions as I've re-booked with BA this morning via Airmiles at a price of £119.20 (all cash as I didn't have many miles). At least I can relax now and just claim my refund (£152) when it becomes available.
Has anyone heard any more about this proposed take over by Easyjet, we all seem to be in limbo, I have 2 bookings with BA/GB to Palma this year.
I thought it should have been completed by now.
Any news anyone?
Thanks.
Deb.
I know that EJet are doing that route but have yet to hear anything from them,my cousin has same flights booked in August has had an e mail from EJ offering him flights but at an hour earlier that with GB,leaving Manchester at 6.30 am.
On their site EJ have no flights leaving at that time but have one going mid afternoon!!!
This whole thing is a mess.
Same here, no news. My GB flights are now showing on Easyjet's site but the cost is an eyewatering £400 more than we paid for three seats with GB. I am resigned to using EZY as the alternative carriers are now far too expensive but I would like to have a booking confirmation from Easyjet so I know where we stand! I would like also to know what the baggage allowance situation is i.e. are we going to be asked to pay £23.94 for 3 bags or will 20Kg per person be allowed?
The reason easyJet have loaded the GB flights onto their website for sale is that BA took the decision to stop selling GB Airways flights due to the takeover. However as it stands the takeover hasn't completed, and the flights bookable on the easyJet website are GB Airways ones with an easyJet "codeshare". This is a technicality yes, but is being used as a workaround to allow easyJet to continue selling the GB Airways flights while BA are not selling them. When the takeover is completed the flights will become full easyJet and the codeshare dissappear - to the consumer no difference, just a bit of a workaround in terms of the selling of seats.
Everyone will hear from easyJet when the sale has completed. It has taken longer than initially anticipated but these things often do, they are never overnight. easyJet are comitted to operating all of the routes they now offer for sale, so you will get a flight to your destination, ok its not BA but it is still a flight. I have also heard reliably that all GB Airways customers being transferred will have one peice of luggage included on their booking.
I have bookings for 8 people in may & 8 in september, hence they are asking questions.
Will wait & be patient.
Thanks again.
Deb.
My last communication from BA said that all GB flights up to the end of March would be on the original terms, but customers booked to travel after this date, on routes that will be operated by easyJet, will receive the easyJet airport and on board service which is detailed on their website. (in other words, very low level of service and pay extra for everything) I'm so glad I've now booked an alternative flight, even though I'm left waiting for my refund.
The email GB sent out with timings on asking if we want a refund had GMT timings on not British Summer Time, this is why everything is out by an hour
My email from GB also stated that we would get one piece of baggage each up to 20KG, extra bags can be purchased at £3.99 each
Hope my thoughts help
