Here goes.
We flew out with Jet airways and found them exceptionally good, five times to Goa and this has been the best and most comfortable flights. Check-in very quick and smooth, staff very friendly and service was excellent. The food was very good I had the veg option which was dhal rice veg and roti and they gave you a bowl of Raita. I thought the raita went with the curry so poured it all over it and to my horror looking around people were drinking it, me and my OH just couldn't stop laughing. There was a Sikh sitting next to us he was very amused watching me pour that drink all over my food but never mind I ate it anyway although it did taste a little sour
On arrival at Dabolim we were met by a taxi sent by Stanley from the Kingstork, it was nice not to have to battle your way through the crowds of people outside and the driver got us to Calangute in record time.
We arrived at Kingstork in Calangute about 5:30pm and was met by Rajish (Raj) who took us upstairs to our room, it was a nice surprise spotless and very clean and fresh. He explained how to use the safe in the room and asked if there was anything we needed just ask and it will be done. The fridge was filled with a selection of drinks and water which was a nice gesture as we were both dying of thirst.
While OH went to the little shop outside for provisions (mossie stuff etc) I unpacked and had an ice cold beer. When he arrived back he proceeded to open a bottle of beer which exploded everywhere and I spent the next couple of hours washing down the newly painted walls in the room. The beer went everywhere and what I called him you couldn't write on here.
Next thing I said to OH You sort the safe out (it was a digital one in the wardrobe) while I finish off tidying up and I said do not put anything in the safe until you know its working. What does he do, he puts all the cheques and money and anything else he can fit in there and closes it. Can he open it, NO. I could have murdered him. Lucky for him Raj saved his bacon, he sorted it out very quickly so no harm done.
We then got showered and changed and took a stroll down holiday St. We ended up in waves, we were only going for a drink and to ask where I could get cigarettes locally as I had run out. I'll send the boy he said and 5 minutes later this young lad appeared with my cigs. I had to chase after him to give him the 20 rupees change that he left me as I thought that little errand deserved a tip, he didn't want to take it and I had to ask the barman to tell him to take it. Anyway we decided to stay there and have dinner and it was excellent. I had the garlic king prawns and OH had the steak. Highly recommended.
Next morning we set off down the beach and headed for Dreamers shack, we have used them every year. There were hardly any shacks up, just frame work and we were beginning to wonder if it would be there. No worries though they were up and running and was made very welcome and had a great relaxing 1st day.
Next morning at breakfast we met Arrond and her OH lovely couple. We didn't have a lot of time to chat as I had made an appointment at *name removed* dentist in Calangute and wasn't exactly sure where it was. We decided to walk into Calangute which took about half an hour. On arrival it was down a very dingy alleyway and up a lot of stairs. There was a security man on the door which I found a little strange. Any way the story of the dentist I will tell in this paragraph as it spanned over the next 10 days.
I originally made the appointment over the internet as I had looked up his prices. I wanted a new partial denture made and his website was quoting £50. I didn't actually see Dr *** but did not know this at the time. My 1st appointment was to have an impression made of which the dentist had his assistant do it. I was then quoted £150 as he said the £50 denture wasn't all that good and the £150 one was far better. I thought here we go, but went with it as I could be bothered to waste anymore time looking for another dentist. When he did the impression the dentist came back in and said to come back in a couple of days to try the wax model and to make sure I brought my £150 to pay. When I returned to the dentist he discovered that the assistant had totally botched the impressions and the dentist had to do it again. Come back in a couple of days he said to try the wax model. Back I went again and lo and behold he had the denture ready. After forcing it into my mouth he then had to alter the teeth as they looked much bigger than my own. After doing this it still didn't feel right so I said I would go away and wear it for a few days and if there was any problem I will go back. Any there was a problem. The denture was not sitting snugly on the gum, it felt like there was a gap between it and my gum so I went back. Good enough he saw me straight away. He put some stuff and what must have been a very strong adhesive on it and pressed it onto the roof of my mouth and then told his assistant to hold it there for a couple of minutes and take it out. Well he pressed it so hard up on the roof of my mouth that when he came to take it out it was stuck solid. He then spent the next half hour trying to prize it out it would not budge and he refused point blank to go and tell the dentist what he had done. Eventally the dentist came in as he could hear a drill (he was trying to drill it off) and nearly knocked him off his feet trying to get the drill off him. I told him what had happened and asked the assistant to let my husband know what was happening as he was waiting in reception. It took the dentist 1 hour to drill it off and he had to put numbing cream in my mouth it was that sore. I was fuming and scared. I had already paid him and new I need not waste my breathe asking for my money back. He tidied the denture up and said to come back if there was any more problems. I just could not believe what had happened and when I went outside to my husband he said where have you been I said didn't the assistant tell you what was going on, he said no, he just popped his head around the corner and smiled.
Well I would not recommend **** to anyone, It was disgraceful what happen to me and my mouth was sore for the next week. We had a good laugh about it after but at the time I was panic stricken to say the least.
