Hi can chilly or any other long tearmer answer this quiestion for me? can you buy semi skimmed milk in goa, we are staying in an apartment next time and wondered if you can buy this, when we stayed in a hotel i noticed that the milk did not taste anything like back in the uk, is there different colour cartons for different cows milk. Many thanks Gel

hi GEL i have never seen fresh semi skimmed, thats what i prefer too, but when we buy the plastic bags of fresh milk we empty it into a screw top bottle and DONT squeeze the bag, this leaves a great deal of the cream behind.. much to the disgust of my 'maid' (and i use that for want of a better description ... although i have to say in our house she is treated as one of the family)
my husband is shouting you can get cartons of long life semi skimmed? I hate long life

:welcome back cliveandhelen :) .......and a big hello :glynis to all the other new members above

Hi GEL yes its very funny in bags (about 12 rps now) you have to hold it up by the corner and snip the other and then hopefully (if you havent had a few too many coffee's!! :D you aim it in your wide necked !! bottle... you can buy cartons as i said in plenty but its not fresh milk...Oh believe i have learnt lots of 'domestic' tips if you need any :D mostly learnt by my mistakes!!

Our milk boy, (peep peep poop poop peep at 6 in the morning, Oh my honeybee head!!) has two different bags of milk and one is slightly cheaper. We presume the cheaper one is semi skimmed as it has less cream in it.
We use a wide necked jug and hubby is a dab hand at cutting off the corner of the bag and getting the milk into the jug without spilling a drop, when I do it the milk goes everywhere. Possibly the fault of the honeybee!!! :rofl

Thanks squigs i'll listen for the peep peep poop poop peep :D i am sure i will learn by my mastakes.Do you recommend that we buy the large bottle of water, ( the same ones they have in offices etc) as the lady who's apartment it is got one for my daughter last time, just wondered if it was worth the hassle of filling empty bottles to put in the fridge, see chilly i said i would think of something eles :rofl Gel

we have a plumbed in electric water filter as its cheaper for us than buying water and we can use it direct from the tap but prob not worth your while installing it, but they do a portable one with a huge water container my friend has one otherwise yes buy the large containers its more cost effective and u can fill bottles/ containers to put in frdge to keep cold

If you actually see the "waterman" ask him to give you a stand for the large bottle. It is a bendy metal stand and you just sit the bottle in it on the end of the work top then you can tip it up easier to fill the smaller bottles. Or ask the lady whose apartment it is to get you one.

I loved Cape Town and the surrounding areas. Could easily see myself living there. It is so beautiful. Have put a brief post in the Africa forum but will get round to a proper report shortly. Thanks Ann :)
