It is awful in the 24 hours after the tooth whitening as you cannot eat or drink anything coloured .
As I had my tooth whitening the day before the last day I spent our last evening watching my hubby tucking into chicken jalfrezi - I had to make do with a chicken sandwich - torture!
still it was worth it as I am pleased with the results.

Shirley.

Sorry to be a pain in the tooth but did you have 'teeth whitening' or 'BriteSmile'?

How much did you pay and who did it? When did you have it done and how long did the teeth stay 'whiteish'?

I am having second thoughts about all this now. I might just have the run of the mill 'oral hygiene' done. Anyone had that done?

Thinking of that. Does one have to have 'oral hygiene' treatment done BEFORE they do either 'teeth whitening' or 'BriteSmile'?

To be honest, all I am lookingh for is for my teeth to look white. Not necessarily 'film star' white as that would appear artificial to me.

i'm glad I started this discussion. I did not realise all the different options!!!! I thought that the britesmile was just a name of the treatment used for teeth whitening, is this wrong????????

I have had one of the teeth whitening kits before and did not think it changed the colour much I paid about £250.00, so I have decided that laser whitening might be better??????????

I will have to make my mind up soon as I go on the 16th February.

Thanks
Goafeb :D

brite smile is just the trademark its the same thing as the home kit you can have brite smile as a home kit or you can have the laser treatment with it,all the laser does is activate the solution and does it in 1 hour instead of having to put it on at night before you go to bed for a week or however long it takes

I had the laser treatment done at the smile clinic in Calangute, the brand name of the laser tratment was zoom 2
I am pleased with the results and my teeth are about 6 shades whiter.
They were quite discoloured so I am pleased with the results.
They did a full scrape and polish before the laser treatment.

hi
I had to take my son to the dentist today and the dental nurse there also works part time in a clinic where they do BriteSmile for £595. She said it was really good. Apparantly BriteSmile is the tradename, another one she said that was the same only with a different name is Zoom. Sensitive teeth sufferers do get some pain during treatment especially if you have fractured? teeth or frontal teeth fillings. She also said it doesnt work on crowns. She said the beauty of BriteSmile or Zoom was that you only had to suffer (possibly) with insensitivity during the treatment and it usually eased of quite quickly whereas with the bleaching sheilds that you have to use regularly can make your teeth sensitive on a more long term basis. She thought the price in Goa was amazing and urged me to go for it. In her clinic you have 1 x one hour session whereas in Goa it is 3 x 20mins sessions.
hope this helps, sorry its a bit rambling :wave

if your teeth are fractured or in a bad way you may not have the full hour when i had mine done there was a guy before me who only had 40 mins i think the idea of 3x 20mins is good as they check on you and re apply solution where needed
if you need info

why would ambert reply word of mouth is the best form of advertising and there are only good things being said about him and what he does and to be honest there is an old thread on dentistry where he did get involved and there were a few problems regarding advertising your business on ht which thankfully were resolved

We have had problems before where we had a "sticky" on dentists. What happened was that we got an influx of "new members" recommending dentists- on investigation their ips were all showing that they were posting from Goa. ( Indeed it was goandentist who alerted us to it).
What we have now is that where questions are asked re dentists they are left to be answered but we have to be careful this does not turn from a Goa forum to a dentists question time where discussion is about what the treatments mean. Goandentist has been a good member on the forum and has now got his website at the bottom of his posts, where you can read about what treatments mean. (You can of course also pm him.)
If you see that someone has had a specific treatment it would be better to pm them to ask specific treatment questions. I'm sure members would be more than happy to relate their experiences.
