For anyone going, don't expect too much.

Came back last week and it was a tough start. No hot water in some rooms, A/C not working in others.

Our room had ants (and they bite) as well as bees (had to get the room fumigated)!

INSPECT YOUR ROOM! Try the hot water and the A/C before you move in.

Otherwise the resort is AMAZING for the kids. Waterslides, park and ton's of events for the kids.

Almost all of my joy on this vacation came from the joy my 2 kids had.

The food is one of the best I have ever had in D.R., although not much variety, the quality is good.

Shows for the adults not great, but for the kids it was fun.

Service was terrible, good luck getting a drink at the pool and expect lineups at the bar.

You have to ask for coffee in the morning.

If you plan on going to Holiday Village, Golden Beach, don' expect to much. It is not a 4 star, expect more of a 2.5 - 3 for the adults and a 4 star for the kids.

on dr1 page 7 and 54 (i think) there is photos of the resort.
i have found this web site very usefull.

I've just booked for March 31st next year.
I've wanted to book for a while but wanted to read some good reviews first.
I knew they'd iron out their teething problems eventually.
The same happened to us when we booked the Turkey holiday Village, we changed to Lanzarote after hearing bad reviews and then re booked Turkey when they'd sorted themselves out.

I can't wait now - although its a long way off yet
It looks as though they have some good excursions too.

The wedding gazebo does look lovely.

We fly from manchester, is there any kids going. i have 2 boys and cant wait to make new friends.

They have a little girl who will be about 3, and I'm not sure how many or how old the other children in the party will be I'll have to find out

Was wondering if anyone saw Watchdog last night and the sickness going around the hotel?

First Choice came out of it terrible again, as they still sent people there knowing there was a problem but of course they said there wasn't a problem!

no i havent seen it but recorded it on sky, so i will make sure i watch it today.

Well to be fair it was a bit of a cop out on the part of first choice who tried to say it could have just been a virus brought in from outside.Although they couldnt seem to justify why more people were sent regardless.
I wasnt there so i cannot say the extent of the problem but there werent that many people complaining when you think over the time how many thousand of others will have gone and come back totally fine.
I have read trip reports in other places were there have been comments about seeing food being tested so personally I am not worried about my forthcoming trip. We are leaving on 6th August anyone else due out at that time.
