We are thinking of going to Turkey for first time this year. Originally wanted a good a/i with nice pools/waterslides etc. However, having looked a lot of these seem quite remote or out of the nicer resorts. Considered Lykia, but thought we would wait until kids are older. Other ones we have thought about are aegean dream resort, but not sure if there is much in resort, or pegasus place which gets great reviews but does seem as if you would be stuck on complex every evening.
If we do not go a/i, we would go to Marmaris/Icmeler, but would probably have to go with airtours as they are the only airline to fly from our local airport. Have looked at Club Julian which seems to get quite good reviews, although not a/i. Does not seem that there are any A/I in these areas apart from Marmaris Palace which did not get very good reviews. We do like a/i for the hassle free in the day, but would still probably eat out most nights anyway. Can anyone offer any advice?
i have stayed in both lykia world and marmaris palace and i have to say lykia is the best hotel we have ever stayed in absolutely fantastic place and marmaris palace was dreadful, the scenery from marmaris palace was the only good thing going for it, another lovely all inc we have stayed in and that was recently oct 06 was letoonia ,that was lovely and the second best hotel we have been too, so have a look at that too, it has its own website ,its the fethiye letoonia, ive been going to turkey for 25 years and about 4-5 times every year so if i can help with anything else then either ask away or pm me thanks
Lykia looks fantastic but it is a bit out on a limb from the resort.
Portland/Thomson do the belcekic beach but its really popular and is often fully booked, so if you want to go this summer it might be worth pricing it up soon. Even last year when Turkey had a lot of problems with its tourist industry this hotel was full most of the season.
There is a big thread on it somewhere, i'll try and find it later for you.
can only think that the marmaris palace has went down hill in the past two years . it was the first hotel we ever stayed in turkey, and liked it so much we returned another five times as we thought it was brilliant , just goes to show , we go to belek now to the sun zeynep ,we also think that is brilliant as we have stayed there four times now and are booked up for another twice this year, but i suppose there will be people who dont like that one either ,all depends what certain people are looking for .
We are going to club asteria in belek in june. Like you we wanted waterslides for kids, but without paying a ridiculous price. We got 2 adults and 2 kids for £1800, thought it was excellent price, plus has climbing wall and trampolines. Cant wait. It is quite remote but having gone AI for the last 4 years have found that it is practically impossible to prise kids away from newly made friends anyway.
