noticed this on the internet for the Exacalibur Hotel rates from $49 a night till september.....looks a bargain
https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=EXC&host=offer&code=CEMS08
going on a package in september wished we was stopping there now....
Got to book by june 19th,hopefully help someone...
$75 for the 6th Sept (saturday) and then $38 for the next 5 nights.
I'm wanting to cancel Flamingo Go - don't think we really want to stay there ($115 per night for strip view was a good deal though).
I'm looking at
Palazzo - ave $239 per night
Signature - $159
Meridian - £39 for studio suite, £54 one bed suite (I kind of like the idea of a fridge and balcony).
Argh I can't decide. Do you think Signature will have deals on??? I notice a deal came out late june last year for sept... I'm still holding out for a better deal. We're also tempted to just treat ourself and go for Palazzo.
Lesley, where did you find that price for the Meridien? It seems quite cheap. Some friends of ours stayed there recently and said it was lovely.
The MGM has some rates at the moment of $49 until September with $25 bar and restaurant credit and 2 free drinks or $25 entertainment credit.
It's on http://www.expedia.co.uk I am quite surprised at the price, and tempted to try it. However, we're doing Orleans/Platinum/another hotel so I don't know if I want another off strip one.

I will look at those later - in a hurry now to get to a christening on time!
A work colleague of my Wife's is going to Vegas in September on a package deal and is staying at the Excalibur. When my Wife told her last week we were paying just $69 a night for the MGM Grand for our 5 nights, she almost fainted. I'm not sure how much her package price is, but it shows you that independent booking is the way to go in most cases.
Luci, those $49 MGM rates are tough to find to be honest. I've tried a number of dates apart from ours and the best I have seen is a couple of days @ $59 but mainly they are $69 in midweek and above. It's still a cracking deal and the two free drinks and the $25 dining credit is a nice little bonus as well.
Another great deal I have seen is the often maligned Sahara for $27 on some dates. Ok it's probably not everybodys first choice property in Vegas and at the wrong end of the strip but the convenience of the Monorail station and the obviously good rate makes it a sensible choice if on a budget.
On the subject of good Vegas wins. I seem to remember a similar "toilet" experience involving my Wife. We'd had a long night in the Excalibur and drunk ourselves sober on $1 Bud Lights but it was not as successful in terms of wins as the previous night. Anyway, I slipped in a couple of dollar bills into a 25c slot whilst waiting for my Wife to come out of the toilet and cracked on a $100 win. She came out, and I owned up. Despite a slight ticking off, we ended up agreeing it was a good thing (errr....$100 in my pocket in a few minutes, yes of course it's a good thing) and ended up having another couple of hours in the casino. The Bud Lights were not going down as easy as before but we managed to have a bit of luck and called it a night a couple of hundred dollars up overall.
I remember that night well (somehow) as we munched on nachos covered in cheese and jalapenos, and a Philly Cheesesteak back in the room at about 4am.
Only in Vegas........
So the maths is pretty simple, 5 nights saving of $28 per night (MGM @ $69, Excalibur @ $41) including tax. Even just working it out without taking the tax into consideration it is a saving of $140 over our nights which is tempting......
I still think the MGM will win. It's a better property by far, very stylish and once used to it very manageable also. I love it.
Great time to be visiting Vegas though, so much choice!!!!
I've really got a thing about staying at the Palazzo, and although it's pricey, I've saved so much by staying at the Orleans I can fully justify it.
Just checked the MGM offer - $99 per night for the standard room offer. I'd be tempted by their celebrity spa suite if they had an offer on, or Signature because of the fridge etc. Help I don't know what to do. I was even tempted by Desert Rose and read they have a managers reception where you get free wine early in the evenings. That's a nice touch - however, I'm not sure it's the right place to stay. Basically I want Palazzo to drop their rate, put a fridge in the room, give me a balcony, and also some free wine!! lol
I must admit the Fortuna suite we had at the Palazzo was something else. Either 940 or 980 sq ft depending which site you read and the furnishing were pure luxury as were the linens. I think we were the first people to stay in our suite and the sheets and duvet cover were textured like really expensive writing paper. I'm sure they had never been washed or ironed to press the lovely texturing out of them.
You should go for it Lesley.

Isn't there an MGM code with a $30 upgrade to a Celebrity or Hollywood Suite? I know when I booked my original MGM room (changed it 3 times now for better rates) it was $89 plus that $30 to make it $119 a night. I have seen $50 upgrades as well which obviously aren't quite such good value.
I loved the Celebrity Spa Suite. The room itself was huge, with 2 areas seperated by the chest of drawers (which housed the TV) and a lovely bathroom area. Obviously that is the main selling point for the Spa Suite, and after a long day of walking up and down the strip it was lovely to just soak in the Spa.
Aside from trying to keep the accommodation budget down this time, I would certainly have booked the Suite again, however it will be nice to stay in the Grand Tower rooms.
I do agree with your thoughts on Excalibur about the rate but that is a very good rate for a property which is often much maligned but really isn't that bad at all.
Currently my accommodation budget for 13 nights (4 in Albuquerque, 4 in Santa Fe, 5 in Las Vegas) is coming out at just £375, a whopping £28 a night.
MGM Celebrity Spa Suite is $149.....
I'm just getting more confused! I know I don't want to stay at the Flamingo, but I'm not sure if there's much point in changing it before I make a final decision.
Lesley - stayed at the Meridian about 2 weeks ago and it was great - didn't want to leave. Platinum looked good also.
Your dates are very similar to ours last year and we got the MGM Celebrity Spa Suite for $144 back then. I think the $149 deal is excellent value and is certainly a better option than a Bungalow Suite (that was the $30 upgrade I was mentioning, sorry for the confusion).
Nothing wrong with the Bungalow Suite but it really is just a bigger standard room. What sets the Spa Suite apart is the bathroom (and spa obviously) which is pretty stunning. It might not be Palazzo stunning but it is fantastic, plus of course you are not paying $250+ for it.
The choice is overwhelming at the moment. I'm happy with the MGM but in fairness I could have taken up any of about 5 excellent offers. $69 for the MGM is a bargain, and I'm pleased I have managed to get it down twice from $89 and $79 respectively.
Oh heavens above, I've just noticed the Venetian Luxury Suite for $139 on all our dates including various perks. Yes it is double what I am paying at the MGM for a standard room but we might not get to stay at a hotel like the Venetian especially in a suite for so little again.
I would go for the Venetian at that price. We got it at $119 about 18 months ago and felt it was worth it. Don't get too carried away by the word "suite". It's really just an oversized room on a split level with the living area down a couple of steps from the bedroom area, but it is nice and the pools are nice there too.
I've booked the Venetian.
Only in my lunch break.
I've just had a chat with my Wife about it and although both agreeing it is a cracking rate for that property and a suite (of sorts) it would mean paying another $350 over the 5 days we are there compared to the MGM room, and that would go a long way to helping with our gambling budget.
I also believe the $25 gaming credit is for new signups only, and we signed up and took advantage of the $15 free slot play last year.
It is hard to turn down an offer like that, but we are going to stick with the MGM this time. Centrifuge here we come!!!
Hey Luci, does your boss know your on HT all day?
Does yours Herman as you're posting from the same isp as Luci?? Mind you so is Walter - how coincidental
How this for an offer from the Venetian? On selected dates you pay what the forecasted temperature is going to be. If the temperature is forecast to be 104 deg, you pay $104!
