MGM have just put their prices down a touch for that week - 15th to 19th is now - $99, 89, 99, 89 for the Grand Tower.
Looks like PH are lowering their rates to $89 a night around that time too.
Cheers,
TC
Do you have any links Teecee?

For MGM.
I can find anything on Planet Hollywood but I would consider staying there - although it may be a bit boring as we've stayed there 3 times already, twice for our full trip (when it was Aladdin). We loved it at the time but went off it a bit when it changed over to PH>

Don't know if you've seen it but Orleans have dropped their prices for September - All Sun-Thu are now just $35 a night and it's $80 for a Fri/Sat night, so excellent prices! These only run up to Sept. 19th at the moment though but it falls in with your first few days.

Trump Towers are down to $139 for Sun-Thu up to 1st October and it's only $30 more for weekends

That Orleans rate is making us seriously think about bolting another night onto our trip. My Wife would like to see Sheryl Crow at Planet Hollywood (supported by James Blunt, ah well, can't have everything) but the strip hotel prices are prohibitive (it's a Friday night after all). Well they aren't really, MGM is $169 which isn't that bad but compared to the $69 we are paying for the other 5 nights I can see why my Wife (and I to a lesser degree) are questioning staying there for that night also (Orleans is $80).
I really don't want to head north to the likes of the Sahara and Strat although the prices are good but with the constant raving of the Orleans on most forums (rated 32 on TA) that might be the answer. Wife has turned her nose up at my suggestion to look at Hooters rates (I can't see why though )!!!
Tough call....or is it? Ideally, would just like to stay at the MGM the whole 6 nights, no hassle with baggage etc etc but it is $90 difference compared to the Orleans. That saving would almost pay for Sheryl!!!!
Thinking caps on again....

For just one night I don't know if I'd bother purely because of the hassle with checking out/in and getting down there. Having said that, I've stayed at the Orleans several times and have always really enjoyed it. Rooms are larger than normal strip rooms and the pool area is very big and never seems to get crowded. There's a couple of decent restaurants in Orleans along with a multiplex cinema and many 10 pin bowling lanes in case you want something different. It's off strip but there's a free shuttle bus that runs up to the strip, normally via the Gold Coast hotel. At that price, I'd be seriously interested if you want to save a bit of money. It's an 'old' hotel and the casino doesn't look great, you get quite a few locals in there and the table limits are normally a little lower than strip hotels. I must admit, I'm considering staying there myself for my first 4 days if MGM don't lower their rates any more.
Cheers,
TC
You can take a bus from Orleans to Gold Coast, but there are 3 buses. One does Orleans-Gold Coast, one does Bills-Gold Coast, and the other Bill's to Orleans. There is no need to go via Gold Coast to Orleans (unless you want to). The buses just keep going back and forwards, so depending on traffic usually 20-30 mins.
I've got a rate of $99, $99, $89, $89, $99 for 14-19 Sept at MGM Grand. This includes a free upgrade to a celebrity spa suite on check in if available.
Oh, I don't know what to do! I called them to ask about the upgrade and they just said they can't guarantee it. I still can't beat that price for Grand Tower Room, but I can get a celebrity spa suite for $50 more per night guaranteed on another offer.
The first mentioned offer is a Visa offer, so not particularly targeted at Vegas-goers. I found it online, but I do have a visa so presumably I can book it. I also have a MGM Mirage players card (hardly played on it).
Any opinions??? I'm tempted to go for it and hope for the best. We'll be checking out of Platinum and moving that day to MGM and it will be a Sunday. Might be reasonable to think we could get the upgrade since we won't be a late arrival, also we'd be able to leave our bags and come back for a room!
Do you have a link to the Visa offer? No use to me at the moment, but may be of interest to other members if it's available to all Visa card holders.

I would go with that Visa deal. The Celebrity Spa suites are nice and if you get them on a free upgrade obviously you will take it, however there has been a similar thread on TA about whether people should book the Spa Suite to guarantee it rather than take the risk and most experts have indicated they would go with the Grand Tower room and if lucky accept the upgrade. Most people don't feel the Celebrity Spa Suite is worth the extra $50 especially if there is a chance of a freebie upgrade (Sunday check in a good time).
Of course you might be left with the Grand Tower room but as these are classed as some of the most spacious and nice standard rooms in LV I don't think you can really fail. The rate is good also for the MGM.
I think it all depends on expectations in Vegas. We went to the Celebrity Spa Suite last year having stayed at standard rooms in Luxor, Excalibur and NYNY, it was a huge difference in size and quality but it looks as though the regulars don't rate it as highly as I do.
As we also check in on a Sunday (arrive at 11.35 from Albuquerque) I am hopeful also of an upgrade, but I will refuse the West Wing room if that is the only thing offered. Not wishing to sound ungrateful but the general consensus of opinion is very modern but way too small and dark. The Grand Tower rooms rock in comparison.
BTW We have bumped the extra night on the head. The Orleans is a greal deal for a Friday but the extra cost of changing flights of £75pp amongst other extra costs has made that a non starter.
Keep us updated on what you do. This thread is like a soap opera!!!
Still undecided, but I did look on TA but I can't find a thread on the MGM Visa offer.
That Visa deal is coming out at $79 a night for our dates, which is $10 a night more than our current rate but if available that would mean us getting a Celebrity Spa Suite for $50 for the duration of our stay.
Of course if not available we would have wasted that $50 and you also have to factor in the fact they might just offer us the suite upgrade anyway.
Interestingly, the website allows you to book using a variety of cards (i.e. not just Visa).
Another thing to think about.

TeeCee, as for the Orleans, yes I think I could save another $10 overall....problem is my arrival night is more on that offer, so it's not just as good for me as I first thought. I also did wonder if I'd have the brass neck to call them again for a rate-match! lol!

It came up as Celebrity Spa with same price as deluxe room - previously Celebrity Spa was there, but I thought it would be based on availablity at check in and I'd have to book deluxe and then tell them my offer. However my booking is def for a Celeb spa suite. 5 nights, $99 for three of them $89 for the other 2.
This offer is valid till 30 Sept. I booked with my Visa card, although it did give you an option to book with other cards. I used my Visa anyway - Nationwide with interbank rate and no charges
Edited to say: On the terms & conditions it says you have to book with your Visa.
Excellent deal Lesley! We want a full review and photos if possible!
I'm liking the look of that - will try to book my first 4 nights in one of the suites myself tomorrow!! Have got the first weekend booked in Signature so I'll just have the second week to book then - hopefully the same Spa suite deal will run through the second week
I also printed a map of MGM to start sussing it out! Looks like the spa suites are in the section that juts out towards the Tropicana, so might be quite good location (maybe not so much for the pool though). MGM has always scared me by its size (got lost in it first time we went in). However last year and the previous we wandered through it fine - for monorail, so I feel more comfortable with the size of it now.
MGM Grand have lowered their price for the entire month of September (except the 6th)...INCLUDING WEEKENDS to $69 a night, for every night! WOOHOO
I knew it was worth waiting!! It's a promotion called 'Ultimate Escape'. You also get some money off something and a couple of free drinks by the looks of it.
I've just cancelled my three nights at the Signature and booked my entire two weeks at MGM - total cost comes out at less than £40 a night! Absolutely fantastic deal.
You need to have a players card, but you can sign up for that online if you don't already have one (we do)
Here is the link for the offer - https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=001&host=promo&code=SDM060&kbid=27920&sub=en
Cheers,

The Spa Suites are located throughout the hotel. Ours was on the other side to the Trop (i.e. nearer Polo Towers) and we looked out dead opposite on the NYNY. From our view we could see the Excal, NYNY, Monte Carlo with ease, further afield we could actually see down to the Bellagio and even Ceasars Palace.....oh and the top of Planet Hollywood, and of course lots and lots of construction!!!!
I have PM'd you about our dates. The Visa deal is great for the Spa Suite but our Sunday date (17th Aug) is $149 a night, compared to $79 for the rest of our other days. It's still a good deal but we will be sticking with our $69 rate for the whole 5 nights and hoping for an upgrade on check in (not to a West Wing room though).
I found staying in the MGM as opposed to visiting made me appreciate the hotel more. It didn't help that first issues of the Brits Guide to LV always remarked on the ugliness of the hotel, which sort of put us off I guess but once you get your bearings inside, it is a walk in the park. As I mentioned in the PM, it does go to show how much we value the MGM that we have passed up on various other deals over the past month or so (including that fantastic Venetian temperature deal, $41 & $51 deals at the Excalibur, $54 Luxor, $77 (on some of our dates Mirage) etc etc etc). There is something about the place, a buzz, which we have often found missing in other places (NYNY aside) and we are very much looking forward to staying there again in August.
Roll on 17th Aug, but first we need to roll on 9th August when we hit Albuquerque.
