does anyone know a good place up north for my daughter to get her hair braided

I got mine done in Arambol (on the path that leads around from the main beach towards the freshwater lagoon). My diary says it cost 350 rupees and took two hours! Bargain. It isn't hard to find somewhere to get braids done up there.

Someone was doing braiding at Anjuna market last year, can't tell you where though in relation to things but think it was where the European hippies tend to congregate.

Hair braiding

Unless I was under the influence, which I would be suprised at, I am sure Rob [CWT] was talking about some of the girls being trained to do hair braiding as a way to make a living. I didn't imangine it, did I Rob,

I would love some braids in my hair, just to try for a change, but ive heard it makes quite a mess of your hair :oops:

and it will be in bad condition once all the stuff comes out. Does anyone know if this is true?

Gemma, I was recommended that you're best having your braids done when your hair isn't squeaky clean since it's harder to plait it when it's soft. I found that my head felt a bit itchy and it was a bit uncomfortable sleeping. I suppose you just get used to it. Don't think it made any difference to the actual condition of my hair when I took the braids out. At least at Goa price you can afford to just try braids for a laugh and take them out when you feel like it.

Youre right Janey. I might have it done, I will decide when I get there but I have always fancied having my hair braided. An earlier posting mentioned a place in Arambul so I might go there, cos we will go to Arumbul to visit a friend there.

just be careful. One of my kids in my class came back with his hair braided and then shortly after had his head shaved. Mum couldn't unbraid them and she is a hairdresser! :lol:
