The Hotel Malligi is the best hotel in the area
x lassi
We did Hampi with Daytrippers and the hotel we stayed in was the Malligi in Hospet. We stayed in the annexe which was a bit grim but passable, you can upgrade to the main hotel when you get there. The hotel Malligi has its own website if you want to take a look. The hotel restaurants are really good and a lot cheaper than Goa. The staff are very nice and helpful too. The restaurant they take you to for lunch is good too and unbelievably cheap, downside is the toilets. Hope this helps
Yeah the annexe is pretty grim although liveable for a night or two. I couldn't believe the beautiful foyer and then through the door into 'Tenko' ... made me laugh. Didn't know there was a 'main' hotel. Is that better?
Have a look at the website, you wont believe its the same place as 'Tenko'
Everyone joins up at Margao Station, after being collected from your various hotels.
The hotel they used all 3 times is the Hotel Priyadarshani (Priyadarshini), Station Road, Hospet.
It is a couple of years since we last went on the trip though.
We've found it to be OK with clean rooms.
As they serve alcohol (I believe a lot of the hotels in Hospet don't), the restaurant gets very busy in the evening with locals. Consequently, the service can be very slow.
We really enjoyed the trip, the train journey is good fun.
One of the stops is at Hubli, there's a good 20 minute stop. Usually there's some little carts that do fresh omelettes which are delicious. They wrap them in newspaper.
They also hose down & empty the toilets at Hubli so just after you set off again is a good time to pop to the loo (not so smelly).
It IS a long tiring trip, up before dawn on all 3 days.
