hiya liz,we had two rooms on the top floor which was facing the sea but it was quite some way off, nothing spectacular.I cannot remember the room number but it was the two top rooms above the crazy golf which is now a pool area, i think .I think those are the superior rooms.I have read many things on the various websites about the anastasia and i have never once read anything about breakins. When we stayed there we spoke to people on the ground floor and they didn't have any complaints about the position of the rooms. We had our two sons in our room and my 17 old daughter had a room next door all to herself. If your daughter stays with you you wont have any privacy but you will have a distant view of the sea,it depends if you are bothered about privacy.Personally i like to be higher up so i would go for that option, but whatever option you go for you will love it.The place has a lovely atmosphere ,not too big and you get to know whose who,it felt a very safe place.
Maybe someone else can help.

liz- I haven't actually stayed at the Anastasia, but I do know its location. I must say that your sea view will be a very distant one. You have to cross a road and then another row of hotels before you get to the sea. I wouldn't worry about break in's either, although I'm not saying it will never happen, it's no more likely on a ground floor than anywhere else. Do what you feel is right for you as a family. Personally I would prefer to have my daughter close by than worry about any view.

Thanks both of you for taking the time to reply xx

Either way my Daughter will be in the same accomodation it would either be in the same room or in a room with inter-conecting door. I am beginning to wander if the pool view room may be the better option as it seems it may be a better view and she would have some privacy...Hmmmm will think it through.

Just one more thing having looked at the pictures of the front of the Hotel with the pool in front, it looks to me like the dining room over looks the pool, if so where exactly are the rooms I have been told over look the pool???

The hotel seems really friendly and I am so looking forward to it, any advice appreciated from both of you or anyone else that has stayed at this hotel xxx ;)

HI LIz,
it's a matter of personal choice isn't it? I wouldn't worry too much about the security. We stayed in Stalis last year and the thought of a break-in never crossed my mind. I think it's a relatively crime free area (don't quote me on that mind lol). As Helen said, with the position of the hotel, I think the pool view will be a lot nicer than the distant sea view. I would definitely go for that, given that not only your daughter, but yourselves will have more privacy that way. Each to their own, but I wouldn't cherish the thought of hubby and I sharing sleeping quarters with our 17 year old - A night or 2 maybe but 14 nights? :think Good Luck with your decision.

hiya liz ,the room above the dining room is where we had our welcome meeting(july2007) it also had books and a pc in it.There are rooms to the side of the pool but i cannot remember if they looked down on it,i dont think they did.The picture in my link of the crazy golf course has (i think)been turned into a adult only pool, theyre might be some pictures of it on trip advisor. The buildings are spread about a bit thats what makes it nice. The 3 storey building in front is the part where we stayed .We had the top two rooms. When you are on your balcony you could see the sea in the distance and down to the left you could see the pool table and i guess now from that room you now see the new pool.http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/LocationPhotos-g644210-d505878-w5-Anastasia_Hotel-Stalis_Crete.html#17669298

I really would not worry about this holiday apart from making your decision on the rooms as you will love it.

Have a great holiday Liz. Having just returned from our AI in the Caribbean, I'm so looking forward to getting back to our traditional Greek hols. Although we had a fab time in the Dom Rep, I can't say that last year's holiday in Stalis was any less enjoyable - I might go so far as to say that it was even more enjoyable.
Have fun!!

Hi Riverside

It's a long story but my Daughter is staying in Hersonnisis with her friend and her family ( who are good friends of our family) and was going to come and stay with us the second week. Now she is going to come and stay odd nights and the Hotel have said she can come in with us on a half board basis for 20Euros per day..which is fab so we are keeping the higher floor family room because she may only stay 3 times over 2 weeks....kids eh...they get worse as they get older!!!

Can't wait now xx

hiya Liz i'm glad you enjoyed yourselves,i knew you would.I guess the you didn't encounter hundreds of flies in the dining arae like we did ,which the owner Michael did say was from the grapes dying due to the heatwave .Apart from that the place is spotless. What was the new pool like ,is it adult only like i read on some thread ?

Hi Riversider
We never used the new pool, and as we went when the children went back to school I couldn't say if it was Adult only. I never noticed any kids in it but then again the kids that where there where very young and where playing in the kids pool a lot or the large pool with their parents.
There wasn't a fly in sight thankfully and the Hotel was fab..from the staff to the food and cleanliness..I just couldn't fault the place.

Liz.
