Great news just got my case back today at 1pm:D . Its very weird as I had just been on the phone to the baggage people in Glasgow an hour before hand who told me that they had not recived it in the flight yesterday from Athens.............hour later, knock at the door and here's your case. I suppose Almeras' post shed some light on the complexities of air baggage travel, funny thing is i'd imagined that the tag had been ripped of but it still had the original tag on it. Anyway no complaints here as ii'm delighted.
Reading Steve's post has highlighted how I'm still entitled too some form of coompensation. I'll pursue this as I have had to replace loads of stuff whilst on my hols, e.g flipflops, sandals, toiletries and underwear.
Thanks again to everyone who posted a reply and kept very positive. I honestly thought i'd seen the last of my case.

Karen that's fantastic news I'm delighted for you Let us know how you go with the compensation, good luck with it
Most of us holiday with another person so its a good idea to pack half of each others things in each case, that way you do at least have something to wear should one case go AWOL. Its a pain but at least you only have to rinse things through to survive. Its not easy to get clothes in my size in some countries so I would be scuppered.
Great news Karen - really pleased you got it back. It pays to think positive!!
Great news - we always split our stuff between the 3 suitcases so that if one goes missing it's not the end of the world tho' to be fair I'd be absolutely gutted if one went astray - it's your worst nightmare when travelling, well it is mine anyway!
we have just met a family on holiday in turkey staying for 6 weeks with 2 children and a baby and their suitcases didnt arrive til after a week, poor things had to buy loads of things as all their cases went missing, she said it was the baby that was the main problem, they had to travel 20 miles to get to shops that they could get receipts from for some replacement items to try and claim back , this was with xl which is no surprise, no apology or explanation as to why the cases took a week to arrive although better than not getting them at all i suppose
If they can afford a 6 week holiday peak season they can afford to replace their missing items anyway!
they have their own apt in turkey so only had flights to pay for, he stays 2 weeks she stays 6 weeks now thats something for me to think about next year lol
Mary.
