we still havent quite decided but think we will go to sharm end of month and are looking at above hotel - but I read somewhere and for life of me can't remember where that there is some building work going on at this hotel - a new pool i think ?
anyone else heard about it ?

They did do some at beginning of 2004 but all done. We got back on the 2nd and had a fantastic time. Staff realy helpful, food great and weather brilliant. What more can I say...........
Booked to go to Hilton Sharks Bay - 20 Feb for 2 weeks.
Have just received a letter to say that they are constructing a new indoor pool at the resort. Not sure at what stage they are at? Apparently tour operator not aware of building work when we booked (only 2 weeks ago!).
Has anyone recently returned from a stay at the Sharks Bay and could let me know if building work has commenced?

Saw nothing like this at all. Only returned last Sunday.
Only thing is is a room being done under main reception which we think is going to be an indoor bar area, much needed. But there is no way I can see that a pool would be put down there. We did see some sort of erection at the front of the Hotel, but that didn't look big enough. Don't think you have much cause for concern to be honest. Besides which most of the rooms are well away from the main Hotel area anyway.

I booked a holiday to this hotel last night for March 2005 and I too was concerned about building work as this has been mentioned to me as a possibility.
The tour operator I have booked with has guaranteed me that there is no building work taking place and they are going to let me have this in writing along with my booking confirmation.

I was told tonight that the building work for the indoor pool will commence 1st February and last 4 weeks!
I've booked with Libra Holidays - they advised me on the above works.
I have emailed the hotel direct but await their response.

had an email from hotel (hadeer anabi) this morning to say that they are constructing a new pool (not an indoor one) during the month of february 2005 only!
hopefully you'll be o.k. going in march 05!
don't know if we'll be as lucky as we've booked 20 feb onwards??

i had the same response from the hotel direct and they assured me that the work will be taking place in february only and that it would not affect my stay - i am arriving on 6th march 05.
it will be interesting to see what happens as the operator i booked with are confirming in writing that there is no building work taking place in march !
hopefully if there is work it won't affect our stay.

have just been told by travel company that it is definately an outdoor pool and not an indoor pool that is being built - confusion or what!
they have assured me that the foundation (messy) work has been done and that only "cosmetic" work will be carried out from 1/2/05 - 28/2/05.
they have also given a guarantee that we will be given a room as far away as possible from the development so that we do not see it!
i will be asking for this in writing too!

I'm reading this with interest as we went in april 2003 and there didn't appear to be anywhere to build a new pool, or the new rooms which were built last year.

We came back on Monday (this week). And, like Heather, the only evidence I saw of any work was on the - presumably - internal new bar/dance lounge near the Reception area.
There is a building site alongside the Hotel but we were told it had ground to a halt through lack of money. So .... could we put our HT points together and fund the development and then have our OWN hotel there???

As Jo says - I honestly cannot see where on earth they could possibly put a new pool unless it is really tiny. I don't think you have a problem. They may be some cross confusion as a small new pool was built last year late on, which you see below you as you come thru the rear door of the reception, these had some new rooms built around them. But other than that - who knows!!! 
Jo - did you have a good time, probably saw you around as well seens as we crossed gy a few days!
Pity we couldn't walk around with HT badges or caps or similar so we could have identified one another

We have booked our flts direct with xl and accomodation thru just eygpt - they didnt mention a word about it too me but i def saw it somewhere which is what made me post in 1st place.
Anyway I am going to email hotel direct poss next week to ask for a "nice" room away from any potential npoise and i too will ask re construction work - will keep you informed

I too have been looking at this hotel and my travel agent that we always book through because they are so honest, has put me off because of the building work thats going ahead throughout February. She told me that there is a new pool being built but that the building work was going to be away from the hotel rooms and said that its near building 9 so they were trying not to put anybody in this building.
My friend has just come back from Dreams Beach Resort and didn't have a bad word to say about the place. I am now looking at LTI Grand Azure, we'll see what happens eh

Hi - I phoned the hotel directly this evening and was told that they are building a new pool near buildings 8 and 9, but that it should not affect holiday makers. I hope not as I am travelling in Feb. If you have anymore info please update the board.
Also if you have been to this hotel it would be great to hear some feeback, particulary the best rooms to stay in (block numbers) and advice for while we are there.

Right by the Sunset Bar but all the heavy noise stops about 11.00 after the 'and so and so' animation team have finished so we weren't bothered and it was really nice being so close to the beach and easy peasy to pop back to the room for this and that during the day. We never went into the pools at all. Only went up to the hotel block for meals.
Blocks 8 and 9 are right up near the hotel.

JoJo our room was a little further back - 323. Nice and peaceful. Know the rooms you mean as some people we met from Leeds were staying in that block too. We didn't have a sea view but we were not bothered about that. Can only think - that where the 'new' pool could be if it is near block 9 is that space as you walk up towards the dining room / main pool. There isa spot in the middle between the two blocks where there was a couple of tables and one or two sunbeds and a bit of garden - can only assume this must be the spot. It's not going to be very big though if this is the place!!

Sottley - the rooms are very nice. We had a large room with a king size bed. It was a room for three but other bed was removed as there was one us. TV, Fridge, Hairdryer and kettle in the rooms. Clean towels every day (if needed). Room 323. No view as such but side view to sea from balcony. Found block three to be fine for what we needed and peaceful location too. High numbers such as 8 and 9 are nearer to the pool and main Hotel building but a fair trek to the beach and bar. If you want to make a little list of of questions PM me and I can respond in more detail
