T MAN/ANDY
My god, I am going in August so what's it going to be like then!!!!!! I am worried but had a bit of a disaster last year at the Bahia Principe in Tenerife so relying on this holiday to be far better and it cost a fortune with no free child places. We were going to the Caribe Resort in the Costa Dorada but changed due to a few awful reviews.
Andy, may I ask what other 4 stars have you been to, just wondering what you are comparing it with. What makes it not 4 *. Sorry to be a worrier, it's just that I had to twist my hubby's arm to change to this one and I wont be too popular if it's not that good!! Also, Andy, what's not that special about the beach club. To be honest I am not expecting alot, it's just another place to sunbathe really. Are the pool areas generally clean??
Promise no more questions.....

page back through holiday village(part 1) topic to pages 85 i think(maybe 84 or 86 though) and there are some pictures within the thread of the beach club,it looks lovely to me(mind you i have no interest in big slides etc as my kids are only 2 and 4)
Tony you are SO right i have turned my "Smiths" album off and given myself a slap(lol) and started packing instead(no joke). Hubby and i have been on holiday together from 2 star crashpads in Ibiza to 5 stars in Mexico and Cyprus, and so far loved them all in different ways!
I have emailed the hotel my concerns about the room security and poor toilet hygiene causing a bug as these 2 things are unaceptable and completely avoidable with a bit of effort! hopefully highlighting this at a staff meeting would make staff more aware maybe if we all send a quick email they will get the message. The rest i can deal with, as it is all each to their own....

I would like to point out that we had a lovely time at the HV. I dont no if the sick bug going around was anything other than just a virus, the hotel was full when we were there and there was plenty of space, i would say it was a 4 star but only just. The food to us was good compared to some of the places we have been, there was always something to eat and i enjoyed it, especially the puddings and little cakes. The people on reception are very helpfull so if you have any problems speak to them. My kids had a brilliant time and that was all that mattered to me. If they were happy then so was i. It is a nice hotel, good entertainment if you want it, plenty of food, Hubby says the wine was ok and the sangria in the restaurant was good. To anyone going soon i am sure you will have a fab time and dont worry, the manager will make sure the cleaners are much more vigilant about leaving doors open! karen
Glad you had such a good time I don't think that any of us could do anymore than we have done with regards to research on the HV and it's thanks to you and all the other guys and gals for all your info and views and advice that we will head off a week Sunday with a very positive outlook as to what to expect. Sure there will probably be some hic ups over the 2 weeks but I fully expect me and her indoors and my 2 girls to have a wicked time.

We had no cut feet - no tummy bugs etc. When the bug was first reported all tempertures were checked for the food in the restaurant. All the food stations say what temperture the food is.
The Sangria is better in the restaurant that the bars - but I think it is just the different fruit they add - all the wines & sangria come out of cartons!
But it is drinkable.
No you are not supposed to take drinks to your room but nobody stops you - they just don't collect the cups/glasses.
We had a great holiday - yes a few grumbles but it is a large hotel - they cannot get everything right for everyone all the time.
I am sure if you go with the attitude that you are going to have a good time - you will. If you look for problems you'll find them - cheer up I wish I was going back!
mac006, if your lad is doing football its over at the beachclub, but the footy coaches take them over, in the fridge in your room is an icebox, a good tip is too take 1 of those plastic drinks bottles and fill it, then put it in the freezer overnight for him. Alot of the lads had these as it does get very hot over there. My 12 year old had a brill time, he loved the computer room ( the 3 one on the left gave 15 minutes for the price of 10 ) I am sure your lad will enjoy it so much, he will make mates in the footy club and then you wont see him unless he wants something. If he would do wavelenght it looked brill, snorkelling, sea scooters, canooing, there is a cinema near the computer room, starts mainly at 5pm, but different time at weekends i think. Have you phoned first choice direct about when your tickets were released? Last year we got ours 5 days before we flew. I said i needed them as i was not happy to get them from the airport so they issued some more. karen
Good idea about e mailing the hotel, can you give me the e mail address.
Much appreciated!!!

We went to the HV last year 2 weeks in Aug WE also had all the same concerns about is everything ready, whats the food like, will the kids be ok. WE had such a GREAT time that we booked up and are going again this Aug so roll on and we will son be there.

You will enjoy. This is all like de ja vu (not sure of spelling) Last year it was exactly the same concerns and everyone (including us) were really concerned. There will be a few things like us our review (Sean Cannon in either August or September) wasnt perfect but we want to go back. I think I will wait until August to book though because some things have changed from last year ie we were able to hire parasols and apparantly this year this is not something that is available. I just dont fancy getting up at some un-earthly hour was hard enough to get up for breakfast

You should give firstchoice a call I rang them last Thursday and they was able to tell me that my tickets had gone in the post that same day and true to there word they dropped through the letter box first thing Friday.

However, we had the best family holiday we have ever had with our children.
We will return as now the BC is finished, it will be like a different holiday again for us.
Over 12 months later, and I am still suffering HV Withdrawel Symptons!
You will have a nice holiday, please dont think you wont.
However, there are some things that are not good enough and I have mentioned them.
We wnet to the Bonnaire Aparthotel in Cala Bona last year and it was listed as 4 star and it was streets ahead of the HV. I think the HV relies a lot on its aesthetic pleasures rather than it's substance.
I will post more later as my euro has already run out on the internet here!
I got tickets ... I got tickets...I got tickets.......
Well done macc, soon you will be on the ready to get a suntan under the hot Then it will be lots of until you have a big smile on your face I wish you all the best and am sure your holiday will be what you make it. Enjoy. karen
