Hayley/John,

Take a tip from me. Don't buy McDonalds from Dalaman Airport. It's about £8.00 for a happy meal. I refused to the first year we were there so last year we took food from the hotel with us to eat.

If people refused to pay the extortionate prices, then the cost could fall.

thanks for that duncan, i definately not paying that much especially as we have 6 kids :omg

Sian,

You could ask your doctor to give you some Gentamicin drops to take out with you, plus an amoxycillin suspension (without the water added) as a just in case.

My son gets terrible ear infections every time we go on holiday and he gives me this stuff to take out with us. I always need to promise not to use it unless it is vital mind you.

I understand from reading a review that there is actually a difference between a junior suite and a jaquzzi suite - does anyone know what the differerences are?

Thanks

not sure about that sianddi but scottish mum might know.
for anyone interested in preventing ear infections ive just bought ear bandits for my kids, they are head bands that cover the ears and you get a set of ear plugs with them called putty buddies. they are quite expensive but ive found a website called http://www.swimstop.co.uk and they are £8 each ;)

Hi
New here :)

We are flying out to the HV on Monday 18th evening.
2 adults, our 6yr son and my wife's 8yr old sister (we have done a child swap and left our 16mth old daughter with the mother in law) Thought it would be too hot for her and it looks like we were right - it's about 95f at the mo :tongue

This will be my 4th time in Turkey, mostly Marmaris etc. First time HV. I have been reading this thread and it looks like we have picked a good hotel. One of my friends and his family visited a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. The only problem being the 1.5 hr ice cream slot!!

Most questions i would be asking on here have already been answered. However i have one that someone may be able to help with.
In the night if any of us get thirsty we would reach for the fridge, but with the mini fridge being chargable we will probably stay clear. So if i was to smuggle some small bottles of water in from sarigerme shop can i put them in the mini fridge or will i get charged for the hotel items i have removed? Any sugestions to what others have done? Can you get bottled water at the hotel or is it all water cooling machines?
Thanks
Happy Holidays

Hi

You get 2 bottles of water in your fridge at start of holiday. These are free. Once you have used them you can keep filling them up at water machine. Also at lunch and evening time in main buffet restaurant you can get big bottles of water which you are free to take back to your room. If there are none on our table there are sideboards dotted about what cutelry are on. the water is stacked on there so just help yourself. You can put whatever you want in mini fridge as they do not fill them up unless you ask them to. bestthing to to is when you go into Sarigerme stock up on crisps/ chocs for kids as it is really expensive in hotel.

Booked this hotel for 2009, this will be our 3rd visit.

However, when I received my confirmation in the post it now recommends injections before visiting, Hep B, Diptheria and something else. Does anyone know why this has changed?

Also could anyone tell me if there are wavelength clubs on BOTH sides of the village or still just on the palace side.

Hi there, If you don't want to watch the entertainment every night ( I can't imagine doing 14 nights of that! ) is there a nice bar to sit in?? Cheers

For scoobydoo - I think there was wavelength on both sides in 2006 but only on palace side in 2007 due to the split. Now it's all one resort again it may be on both sides again.

Dolly - there is the "Royal Pool Bar" on palace side and also the lobby bar where you could sit. Also the bar which doubles as the daytime snack bar just outside the amphitheatre is also open all evening

Hi have just returned from a fantastic 2 weeks at the HV staying on the Palace (blue side).....when we left yesterday it was the hottest day of the year so far 54 degrees, we didnt see a cloud the whole time we were there. It was our third visit and definately the best stay. if you have any questions feel free to ask. Also we flew from gatwick and they changed the aircraft on the outbound to a 767 (2 - 3 - 2) was booked in the premium seats, so we had the full star class premier service that you would normally on get on long haul....it was great.

We met some great people....a big hello to deborah, michael, rory and harry....jackie and khai......hope you got your sunbeds okay :rofl

Unfortunately on Monday a family staying at the HV were involved in a fatal accident......a father and 8 year old daughter were both tragically killed whilst taking part in the jeep safari trip, booked with sarigerme tours, a young boy was injured and is in hospital, more details are available on the net and I believe on news channels and english papers.

tracey treacle did you request a specific side of the holiday village before you went? if so did you get your choice and did you book online or through travel agent?
I really want to stay on the palace side and requested this at time of booking I booked through a fc holiday hypermarket.

Its devastating news about the family involved in the accident I thought they may be staying at the hv but it never said where they were staying.
We love the jeep safari buthave only ever gone on that trip with firstchoice although sometimes considered booking with sarigerme tours (dont think i will now)

We have booked a jacuzzi suite 2 weeks on monday til we go

Were there plenty of sunbeds? mattress for sunbeds etc. Should be reasonably quiet when we go as the kids go back school the week before

There have been loads of bad reviews for hv this year on trip advisor which is concerning

Hi Foxy we had a fantastic time...i believe the Hv is better run now under Joy Hotels. I got up between 6.30-7 to get the specific sunbeds we wanted....always sat on the corner facing the water funnels where they play water polo. You had to stay with your beds but this was what i enjoyed very peaceful, warm, rather than baking hot and i read my book. You were still able to get beds before 9am if you wasnt too fussed were you sat. During the 2 weeks we were there the pool guys removed towels off of left beds(before 9am) about 5 times.......I think 9am is too late as breakfast is open from 7am....and I would have liked to have gone to breakfast at 8am but couldnt risk losing my towels haha! Plenty of parasols and planty of mattresses, if you cant find a parasol the pool attendents would always do there best to get you one. Whilst there they have erected a new canopy along one side of the slide pool (next to the bar). Some guests even reserved places on grass areas obviously prefering to sit there rather than on sunbeds! Bear in mind i was there the middle of the school holidays and i didnt find it stressful trying to get beds. This was our third visit and we requested the Palace (blue) side, with a Jacuzzi (junior suite) room close to the main pool......we got what we asked for. To be honest I would have not been happy to stay on the Tropical side (orange) as it always seems so much more congested around the pool, as i have stayed at the palace on all previous visits this is just my personnal preference. However it could possibly deter me from returning to the HV as I would only want to be Palace side. We often went down to the beach for an hour or so...the breeze was very refreshing and the kids had great fun bouncing on the waves in the lilo/dinghy. went to the italian twice and the asian once ...both were nice. The food as a whole was okay......not sure what people expect but i always found something i liked, if i didnt like what i got i just went and chose something different. The entertainment was good, you just have to get involved even if its not something you would do at home....you are on holiday so enjoy :rofl if you havent booked a late check out room its £44 until 6pm £54 until 9pm and I think it was £64 until midnight payable in resort the day before departure.........Im just about to start the washing..... :cry
also just to say that first choice have placed notices in the reception stating that many local tour companys do not have adequate insurance, or the equipment is not health and safety checked, sometimes the company do not turn up at stated times etc..so bear this in mind when thinking of booking excursions elsewhere...and first choice will not be able to help with any problems with outside tour agencies

Hi tracy,i booked this hotel in june and was just wondering if i should request a certain side... just wondering about your reasons for the blue side apart from the ones you have stated

Hi.....the reasons that i prefer the palace (blue) side are as follows : the pool main pool area with the lagoon pool, slide pool, jacuzzi pool and baby pool is twice the size of the tropical (orange) for the same amount of rooms, there are two main pool bars palace side and the pool bar tropical side always seemed to have long queues, the restaurant is outside, inside and an upstairs terrace which is bigger than tropical, there are more jacuzzi suite pools, there seems to be much more garden areas palace side....when you walk over to the tropical during the day is just seems so much more compact. as i stated it is personnal preference having been to the HV 3 times now and you are of course able to use facilities either side no matter what side your room is based.

Hello TRACEY TREACLE!
I read about the jeep accident, how awful. We were thinking of doing that when we go in Sept, prob won't bother now.
So glad you had a great time, some of the reviews on TA have been really dodgy lately which really dampens the excitement! ( my husband won't read any!)
Can you tell me how far it is to Olu Deniz and if there are any trips going there. Really fancy going there.
I e-mailed the hotel requesting a room on the Palace side but they've not replied, how did you request yours??
Cheers Dolly
