I'd say a good place for 10's and under. It also feels safe
Having a bit of a dilemma on whether to go here to HV picafort or whether to go to HV Cyprus. We have 2 kiddies aged 6 & 3 and Just wondered have any of you any experience of both of these Holiday Villages and which one would you recommend?? We have been to HV Portugal and HV Benalmedena and thought both were great.
Any help would be very grateful
Cheers Ernie
As i said i think HV Viva is a good for under 10's ive been here twice and HV Benemedena once. I thought Benalmedena had more for older kids and it was so big with the beach club more places for kids to wander. On the whole i prefered the Viva we felt the food and drinks were better and you got more for your all inclusive. The spend here was a lot less and less deposits on arrival. As for Portugal who knows? booking the right hol is a nightmare lol goodluck !!
Hi we have stayed at the HV Viva and the HV at the Algarve. While we had a brilliant holiday at the HV Algarve we had an even better one at the Viva. The food was better, the entertainment was better, the whole layout was better. We have just booked up to go to the HV at Cyprus but don't go until October. I think really if you have children you cannot go wrong with a Holiday Village. My daughter will be 12 when we go and is so looking forward to it. There is just so much for the kids to do. The holiday can be as busy or as leisurely as you want it to be but you know the kids are going to be well catered for.
We have booked to go here in July . Question re kids clubs - our kids are 6 and 9 and I know that they can't go to the same ones. Do they have a drop in club during the day like some other Thomson family hotels for all ages and secondly, I see that they have an evening kids club. How often is this on and is there a charge? Also is this for all age groups?
Anyone
nop, they have timetable for the sessions, which are taken on a first come basis, my son loved it he was 8 hope you have a great time
The evening club for kids was on every night if I remember right. There is no charge but what they used to do was themed nights like chocolate party, pizza night. They did charge a small amount for these nights but as I said the others were free. The clubs at night tend to be still in their age groups. My daughter is past the kids disco stage, thank God, and we would drop her off on an evening and then pick her up at 11 on our way back to our room. I can't remember what time it started but it finished at 11pm. The clubs through the day have set times but do run regularly throughout the day. Sometimes it is good to put the kids into the club at the hottest part of the day just to get them out of the sun for a while. I think the only kids club that has a regular charge is the creche for the little ones. We had a brilliant, relaxing holiday at HV Viva, it is a beautiful place, well set out and spotlessly clean. Enjoy your holiday.
Liz
My kids are 6 and 9 so I already know that they can't go into the same clubs. They can take a while to settle so may not want to go at first. I am hopeing that they will make lots of friends which will then encourage them to join in with the clubs etc.
I really hope that it lives up to the fab reviews.
Cannot wait!
Thanks
Mummykins
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT TIME DINNER IS AT, WE WENT TO THE COSTA DEL SOL ONE LAST YEAR AND WE WERE GIVEN THE 2ND SITTING WHICH WAS TOO LATE FOR OUR DAUGHTER WHO WAS GETTING TOO TIRED BY THIS TIME (WE ALSO MISSED BUYING OUR BINGO TICKETS AS THESE ONLY WENT ON SALE FOR 30 MINUTES. LOL)
ARE THE KIDS CLUB REALLY BUSY, WE MANAGED TO GET OUR DAUGHTER IN NO PROBLEM LAST YEAR BUT WE WENT EARLY MAY SO WASNT TOO BUSY.
IS IT WORTH GOING TO THE BEACH, IT SAYS 10 MIN WALK BUT I CHECKED GOOGLE EASRTH AND IT LOOKS REALLY FAR.
HI MUMMYKINS, MY DAUGHTER WAS THE SAME LAST YR AT COSTA DEL SOL SO I TOLD HER THAT THE CLUB WAS SCHOOL AND SHE HAD TO GO AND SHE ACCEPTED THIS LOL. I THINK YOUR 2 WILL BE TOO OLD TO FALL FOR THAT THOUGH. LOL. I ASKED HER WHY SHE DIDNT WANT TO GO AND IT WAS BECAUSE SHE DIDNT KNOW THIER NAMES IF SHE NEEDED TO ASK FOR THE TOILET. SO THIS YEAR IM GOING TO ASK THEM TO SHOW HER WHERE THE TOILET IS AND FOR THEM TO TELL HER THEIR NAMES AND HOPEFULLY SHE WILL GO A FEW TIMES.
THE DAYTIME SESSIONS LAST FOR 90 MINS EACH.
THERE IS 1 IN MORNING ABOUT 9-11:30 (DIDNT GO TO THAT) MOSTLY ARTS & CRAFTS
12:30 - 2 DIDNT GO TO THAT AS ALWAYS HAVING LUNCH
2:30 - 4 TRIED TO GET DAUGHTER TO GO TO THIS AS IT WAS GETTING TOO HOT BY THEN
AROUND ABOUT 6PM THEY OPENED THE ROOM FOR PLAYING IN SOFT PLAY BUT THE PARENTS HAD TO STAY WITH CHILDREN, THIS WAS OPEN TIL ABOUT 8
THJEN YOU HAD YOUR EVENING SESSION FROM 9-11
THIS WAS AT COSTA DEL SOL BUT I THINK THEY ARE ALL THE SAME
Welcome to the forums MINIMUM77.
Oops sorry David
I am really looking forward to it.
Just a question that your post has prompted to anyone who has been there. Can you go for your meals at any time or are they done in sittings?
Thanks
M
Do you mean 1st sitting, 2nd sitting scenario or do you mean restaurants open all day? I have been to Holiday Village Viva and Holiday Village in Portugal and never had a time for eating and going to the Holiday Village Cyprus this year and they don't do sittings either. The restaurants are open for fairly generous periods throughout the day and evening and we found the times fitted in well with what we were planning for the day/evening. There are also the snack bars that serve food from (if I remember correctly) 10am until 6pm.
Hi JimNLiz - it was just that Minimum had said she was given the 2nd sitting at the Costa del Sol village which made me wonder if they did dinner in 2 sittings. Glad to hear that they don't! Don't fancy being tied down to a certain time. Also, how does the hiring of pool towels work?
Hi everyone. I dont think there is 2 sittings at viva as it doesnt say in the brochure, in last years brochure it stated that there were 2 sittings at costa del sol. I just hope it starts at 6:30 or 7 so that my wee one isnt too tired. Have you had a look at the photo gallery at the pics, it looks really nice with the grass and gardens. Costa Del Sol wasnt like that it was mostly concrete.
Hi Minimum. It doesn't look like there are sittings at the Viva - see Liz's post. The pool area looks great - could get crowded but at least there are grassy areas. Hope you have a great time!
