Hi all,
I was at HVWS from 3rd to 10th may and I am afraid all abbieipswich says is true, apart from I didnt think lunch was lovely perhaps it got better in their second week. I have posted my letter of complaint to first choice with photos of the activity pool swim up bar closed due to melting blue paint covering people, I was one of those people. It is no fun scrubbing turps onto sunburnt legs.
Dont despair if you have booked to go I am sure as soon as it is finished and the management buck their ideas up it will be a fantastic holiday location.
The beach is lovely and the sea is warm. When the holes are filled the grounds will look lovely. If I was assured it was all complete I would consider going back weather was great.
When on way home at airport I was told that some people who moved hotel were offered, in resort by first choice half of their money back but they refused it. (not sure how true that is).
Our room was not dirty but we were lucky to have been put in a room reserved for occidental members club. There was only 2 of us and we had a bedroom a lounge and 2 bathrooms.
I will report back what reply I get from first choice about my letter of complaint. To all of those going soon I do hope it is all ready for you, have a great time.
I too was going to WSHV. I booked this 12th April at Southamptons First Choice holiday hypermarket. We are leaving on 31st May for 14 days.
At the time of booking I was told that PAX had been going their since Jan of this Year (Obviously NOT true). I then looked at the reviews having got home to find what was going on.
I have since contacted FC (Yesterday) and have moved hotels to the Occidental Grand. Having paid extra for the accomadation in WSHV I secured a rebate of £332.00 that I am assured will be back in my bank within five working days.
This is the second time I have used FC for Mexico and the second time just before departure I have had to insist on a hotel change as I am told when booking that everything is OK to find out later that it obviously is not.
I am still to receive my letter from FC as others are now doing but I am sure that moving to the Occidental is the way ahead.
I met no opposition from FC and having relayed to them the reviews now apearing on WWW they made an immediate desicion.
Pity we have to go through this drama each and every time, but thanks to sites like this we get the inside track from the Customers and not the sales pitch.
We departed mexico yesterday. At the airport we were right next to rep from Occ Grand (donna) who was on the phone in a blind panic as 50 something incoming guests had been moved (some up to 3 days before departure) to the Iberostar. The panic appeared to be because Iberostar hadn't got the bookings. Whatever the issue, the point to make is that FC are allowing moves - which supports earlier comments and the letter. Appears that offer made for last weekends guests is applying equally to this weekends.
By the way, the other rep from WSHV floating around the airport advised that the numerous holes around the site were being filled with palm trees as of that morning. And still no news at all on that pump !
Trust the management at WSHV ? I don't think so !!!
If anyone wants pictures, PM me. Will also try and upload on the pictures area of this website.
Trying to PM you with no joy ( don't know why)would you send pictures to me at a pvt email address?
Thanks in advance.
I'm afraid new members are unable to send PMs until they've reached a certain number of posts. This is to help prevent unwanted spam being sent via PM by new members only here to do just that.
Thanks Pippy. Didn't realise I can't use PM. Appear to be having trouble using the picture area of the site as well. Same rules apply or am I doing something wrong ? I think it important that people see the visual evidence.
If anyone wants to provide an e-mail I will send pics directly, no problem.
One last piece of info. The rep I referred to at the airport who was telling us about the palm trees... we asked if the kids club was finished. She said it is "operational" but they were waiting for all the stuff to use in it such as pencils, pens, stationary etc. But guess what ? All the boxes had been impounded at Cancun customs and she did not know when these would be released. She was quite open that they (the kids club staff) were finding this a joke.
So bring your own pencils kids ! (at least the pool pump will have some company in the customs warehouse ...)
And one final comment earlier that "splash park not open but no building work"... that is probably correct now but not so the first week. As advised in my first post, the thing was still being assembled and concrete being laid. Pretty sure I have a piccie of a friendly local tradesman waving at me as I snapped away.
Anyway, not going to repeat myself anymore. Waiting for some underwater photos of the pool floor to be developed and then will be sending letter to FC seeking compensation.
Regards
If you have a look around the forum and if you're a regular holidaymaker then hopefully you'll very quickly be able to attain the required post count to send PMs by seeing if there are other threads in which you may be able to post
Regarding the photo album. Very sadly, the mod for that part of the forum passed away recently and as yet we have nobody to take on the (not inconsiderable!) job of looking after the HT albums.

thanks alot
Hi could you pleaase send me a pictures to
My husband and I, our two children are due to go to HVWS on 17th August 08. I am very concerned of the reviews of the people that have already been . We have to pay for the holiday for 28th May and I really do not know what to do
It is costing us £51400 because it is our 10yr Wed/Ann we have upgraded the flight (for our 6yr/3rd son/daughter), also the room. I have been on the internet and looked at the Iberostar Paraiso del Mar, I so wish we had booked that now.
Has anybody got any suggestions of what we can do??? If we do decide to change to the above hotel would we get charged for it??
We have our fingers crossed that by August it will be ok
If you have a copy of THAT letter can you send it me please. I am going to ring FC tomorrow and see what they say.
Thanks
I would say wait till maybe end of may/beginning of June & wait for them reviews and then make up your mind because I doubt this hotel will have major problems for much longer.
The sales advisor who sold me the holidays advised me to make sure I fill up a Customer Complains Form on the Hotel and take as many photos as possible. If some one can send me some pictures to *Edit to remove email address. Pippy* I really appreciated.
Please do not post your email addresses on the forum! This is against HT's T&Cs and is for your protection against spam!
I do respect forum rules, but what are my options to see those pictures, as I can't use PM, as I am a new member?
Thank you
Well, unless admin are able to think of another solution all I can suggest is that you have a look around the whole forum and see if you're able to assist other members by answering their questions. The post count required to send PMs is very low, under twenty, so even if you haven't travelled extensively you should be able to achieve the required number quickly.
Really sorry but my hands are tied!
Admin are keeping an eye on this thread so if they think of another solution I'm sure they'll post in my absence. Unfortunately though the posting of email addresses is something I doubt will be allowed as it would open the floodgates.
As I said, do have a look at all the various forums and see if there are any in which you can help other members to build your count.

Thanks Xdaniellex for your response.
I was on the web for ages last night looking at reviews, pictures of the complex and hotel. I looked under Allegro Cozumel and it is the same hotel as some have said On TA site it looks good as it was. It looks like FC have taken over and are expanding it with more restaurants and facilities. It states in the brochure that "children's section of family pool with slides and pirate ship" (my kids are really excited about this)
They should of put in the FC brochures that it is the Allegro Cozumel that is bing referbished, not saying "Exclusive to FC" "New for Summer 2008". It sounds as though it is a brand new complex that has been built.
I will pay the holiday Tues but will be ringing up FC on a regular basis to see where abouts they are upto.
If anybody has photos can we see them please
Yeah just keep harrassing FC and I hope you have a lovely time & everything is complete.
Reading on another site that people who are due to fly out this weekend are going to be contacted by FC over the next two days.
Not sure what it will be regarding but if it is that the splash pool is non operational then surely you will be able to change hotel.
I fly in just under three weeks, and I will deffinatly be changing hotel if this is the case as this was the only reason for booking this one.
Good luck Tracy
