We are trying to decide between the El paso or H10 Mediterranean Village. The med village is £800 cheaper but of course we will have to buy passes approx £200 (2 Adults & 2 Kids 11 and 12). Plus Taxis backwards and forwards. Can anybody help me out with the folowing questions.
Is the El Paso worth the extra.
You get express passes if you stay at the El Paso does that help for a large number of the rides or is it only a very few. Tried looking on their website but it does not say how many rides have express on them.
Cost of taxi's from H10 Mediterranean Village to park and back.
Which hotel has more going on in the day like football, water polo, pool etc for the kids. If we do stay at the hotel for the day an 11 and 12 year old need a lot going on to entertain them.
hi we stayed at the elpaso in october, all the major rides had express on them,ie dragon khan, stampeda, tutki splash, hurakan condor, and many more, also diablo mine train and it was good because you could bypass the scary haunted corridor and go straight on the ride.we loved the elpaso and hope to go back next year,i have looked at the meddeterainian village also and it looks good, but i agree distance could be costly.what time of year are you going, because staying at el paso means free entrance into the water park daily in october and a bit more restricted in the height of summer.at the elpaso there are pool, air hocky tables and an animation team who organise vollyball etc.live entertainment every night.the food is excellent at the hotel also, and you can dine in various restaurants in the other theme park hotels, ask at reception and they will give you vouchers,i cant remember how much,?12euros for adults 7 for kids, and you just pay any exra that you spend on top of this.we did this once but enjoyed the buffet so much we didnt feel the need to do it again.if your kids get bored you are literally 5 mins to the theme park/water park so i dont see how they could be,ive got a 14,12,10 and 5 year old and this morning i asked them where they would like to go disney or port aventura and the reply was the el paso,i think it was probably one of the best holidays we have ever had.whichever you choose you will have a brilliant time. mo
ps.i dont know which company you are using, but ive found eclipse direct to be the cheapest by a mile unless you are doing diy.mo
Also stayed at the El Paso last year. It's in a brilliant location for the park and is a great hotel with a nice pool and good food, and as you mention you do get excellent access to the park from the included theme park ticket. I think there was about 10 rides you could fastpass.
I'm not sure how to judge if it's worth 600pounds more than the other hotel, as I haven't stayed at the H10, presumably that is over 2 weeks and not one? Even so it sounds alot more money. Like mobeckwith I also went with eclipsedirect.
It is a great holiday destination for children the age of yours. Whatever hotel you pick I think you will have a great time.
We had a brilliant time there and would recommend this to anyone, the restraunts are fantastic and the pool area is beautiful. You bypass big queues and you get a water park ticket free for one day of your holiday too. We booked with first choice i think!
Thanks for the replies. We have decided on the El Paso it looks so nice and reading your replies helped. The fastpass system works on more rides than I thought it would. We are going for two weeks at the end of July so the fastpass will help a lot. Can anybody remember if there is a fridge in the room or if you can hire one. Anybody know how far it is to the nearest shop to stock up on water and cokes etc for the kids. I remember reading somewhere the drinks are expensive in the hotel.
hi,definatley no fridge in rooms, sorry only left the area once to go into salou and went wrong.there is a shop in the hotel that sells cold drinks et.i just used to get 6 bottles of water from the bar before we went to bed.
i've been to the med village twice and you will pay approx £100 for taxis and buses to and from salou centre and portaventura. it's a great accomodation and loads happening in it but i would have thought el paso is right in the heart of everything. i would not fault the med village at all. it's all good and for kids the club daisy is brills and the reps are so good and friendly with them. hope this helps.
Re drink prices in the el Paso, just to give you a bit of an idea what to expect. At our evening meal we used to get a jug of sangria (about 4 large glasses), large bottle of still water (3 big glasses) and a soft drink like coke or fanta, and I think it came to about 12 or 13Euros which I thought was OK for a 4* hotel, waiter service. Didn't drink much at the bar as was always in the theme park of an evening. Just to confirm, definately no fridge in room I'm afraid.
Also I think as well as getting bottles of water in the bar you could buy them in the little gift shop in the reception area which might be a bit cheaper than the bar, you would need to check the prices.
ppps go to elpaso its ace mo
can you only book rooms for 4 people there or do they do rooms for 5?cheers.
Its a shame because in the rooms that have a double bed and a bunkbed there is actually plenty of room to put up a camp bed or a rollaway for a younger child. I guess it must be their policy not to do this.
There are some interconnecting rooms which could be worth checking out depending on the age of your children. But I guess that would be more expensive than 5 in one room.
thanks for checking doepsmc
