Cant wait to here all about the hotel when you get back! We fly out on the 19th for a week staying at this hotel.
From what I understand they have computers to use but its not included in the all inclusive?.
Is there any point taking my laptop. i.e do they have wifi or a modem socket in the room.
Any info would be great.
Thanks
Gav
You'd never get on them if they were included, last May they never had wifi. From what I understand they have computers to use but its not included in the all inclusive?.
I was on the 10th floor and was supposed to be using LC's wired internet, but I got the FO signal and used that on the first day. Couldn't be bothered to go down for a cable from reception.
pebbles - Only information I can find on free wifi when is in the executive type rooms. Can you remember was there no security.
When you say about getting a cable from reception in the hotel you stopped are they rj45 and straight or crossover normally in hotels.
Thanks Gav
I was going to go down to reception to get a cable, but the Flamingo WiFi was already there and my netbook logged on to it automatically, so I didn't bother.
Nice one, I hope I'm as lucky. The internet will be my only escape from the wife.
I've booked 3 nights from 15th may at FO for hubby and I through Thomsons. I want to get a price for an upgrade to a club room but Thomsons say they can't do it and I need to speak to the hotel directly, but I've emailed the hotel twice and no answer.
How on earth does anyone upgrade?? I want to use the rooftop pool which is the main reason.
Just an update regarding wifi. wifi is free if you stop in the club rooms which are floors 21 and above. But I found that if you get the lift to floor 20 and sit on the seat outside the lift there's a full wifi signal. I'm guessing the signal might cover the whole of floor 20, but I didn't check.
Nice info Gav

I phoned the UK reservations number from the FO website (0871 662 4316) and she gave me another number 0034965856336. Spoke to a Spanish gentleman who said they can't book the club rooms in advance as they are exclusive to Thomsons, but on the day I check in I can ask to upgrade if it is available. Yet although I have already booked through Thomsons they say they can't upgrade me either. I don't want to do it at check in as I wanted the upgrade to be a surprise for Hubby. So annoying!
Try getting back to Thomson's (I know, going round in circles ) & explain what the hotel have said?
I know thats an option but I really wanted to do it as a surprise for hubby. I think I might try the hotel again but feel I'm probably wasting my time.

At last someone with some answers! A Pity Thomson didn't seem to understand what they do /don't control. If the first Thomson advisor (or any of the 4 I've now spoken to in fact) could have told me that they control all the rooms but that they were all booked, it would have saved me umpteen phoncalls to an 0871 number, and 2 phonecalls to Spain!
Does all the old customers still go to the flamingo?? ive not been back since all the roof top pool problems started i looked at the prices and they are high for what it is we now go to turkey far better value for money x
At the time of booking I priced the same holiday from other airports all with Portland. The flight times for the other airports are all much better, we are afternoon out and night back.
Price difference is quite substantial. Our holiday £2630, from Doncaster £2490, from Manchester £2350 and from Gatwick £2240.
Flight only prices Glasgow £318.98 , Manchester £258.98, Doncaster £234.98 and Gatwick £228.98.
Taking the flight price difference into account the figures do not add up.
The head of one of the independant travel agents was on television recently and he stated that flights out of Glasgow were exeptionally high due to the big 2 having the monopoly.
The failure of companies such as Globespan has strengthened the position of Tui and Thomas Cook.
For next year I will have a rethink on my holiday strategy, might mean flying from further afield or trying something other than the Med.
Prices this year are steep in my opinion , not helped in my case by having to take my holidays in July, thanks to an inconsiderate employer
Its a shame because i did love my holidays to the flamingo however they treated everyone bad and they will of lost alot of custom. I bet the reception still floods too.
We went for our first time 13th April for one week. It cost us £294.00 each all inclusive and included flights. At that price I wouldn't hesitate about going back again. But within days the price went up by £200 each. If I was paying nearly £600 I would be looking more to a nice resort in Egypt.
