Hi thinking about booking here for end of August but the reviews are so mixed, we stopped here 5/6 years ago and had a great time. There will be 9 of us aged 6-68 so not bothered about bed dash as there will be plenty of us to take a turn. Is the food still ok and do they still bring some decent evening entertainment in.
I was thinking about upgrading my mam & her sister into the adult only rooms, would my 16 year old son be able to use the wi fi in the room.
Thanks for any info
Can anyone tell me the temps here for October half-term - Last week in October? Is it worth going then or would you advise going somewhere else?
I'm going at the start of october for 2wks, it should be nice, I've been the past 2 Novembers at the begining at those have been warm also.
1st post here and hopefully first of many.
Anyway, me and my misses are off to the Hotel Flamingo Oasis Benidorm on the 7th of August for 7 days and booked the VIP package.
Whats the hotel like this time of year?
Whats the VIP package like?
Are the roof pools full or plenty of room?
Whats the rooms like?
And
Whats the wifi like? (ANSWERED)
Also do the rooms have a safe and if not whats the additional costs?
Regards,
Brian

Wifi is free in the club rooms (floor 20 upwards). I wasn't in a club room but managed to get connected by going to floor 19 and sitting near the lift.
Thanks.
What's the local pick pockets like, any tips, advice?
Purchased a money belt, is it a good idea for my misses to carry her hand bag with her?
And
What's the security like of the rooms, staff, is it safe to leave anything of value in a room?
Thanks.
PS,
Do they do room safes?
We were in the suites floor 24 and room safes were provided . Avoid room 2413 as it is smaller than the others and has less facilities, if you are up there. Our maid was excellent, place was spotless and any money we left lying around was never touched, although we should really have put it in the safe.
2 laptop computers in the club lounge free to use and usually not to busy. Downstairs internet always busy with kids 1 euro for 15 minutes if I remember correctly. Fellow guest used his laptop in his room 24th floor with little problems.
Some reasonably priced bars across the road with entertainment, we used to go after midnight and catch a couple of acts. China Garden nearby good and cheap.
Enjoy.
I try and spread money in my pockets loose so if one pocket is picked I still have money in the others plus I dont want to carry a wallet has cards will be in the belt.
Any good places to see, visit and what are the taxis like cheap or expensive?
If the Oasis is good enough I cant see me or my misses leaving the hotel but may have a look around.
Thanks
When we were there the food was quite good. You can ask for a bottle of wine and glasses at the bar and take it to your room.
luci
Bottle of wine and glasses I like that idea, do they have room service or is that to much to ask
Regards
Can't remember if they had room service. They may have it for the top 4 floors, the Club rooms I think they are called.
Hope so, may come in handy.
Taxis and buses available outside the hotel. Buses are cheap you can go for miles for 1.25euros. We used the bus to go into the Old Town, not to be missed for shopping, or tapas, if you`ve never been. For a short trip out Altea or Albir are worth a visit, both on the same bus route No. 10.
Levante Beach a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel , well worth the walk , even has a water ski school.
Aqualandia and Benidorm Palace very near the hotel , and of course the outdoor market on Sunday and Wednesday.
the ayrshire tripper your a gent thank you.
The market is one place where you do have to keep your wits about you and watch you handbag and wallet. Might be best not to take them and just have cash loose in a front pocket.
For some reason people seem to lose their inhibitions....and common sense far easier in Beni than in a lot of other resorts!..I dont dont why..but maybe because its so familiar, people go there so often...they feel like they are at home!!..They relax their guard too much..and thieves pounce!..Remember folks you are in a Foreign Country, and You will have problems if you let your guard down!!....Yes everyone who wants your money will be friendly...but there are people who will take your Money..who ARE NOT!! Take Care..Be Sensible..Be Happy.....BUT BE ALERT!!!!!
Survived the market indoor and the outside one on the Wednesday so no trouble or problems there but I did bolt, buckle everything down pocket wise. Did happened to bump into two short, bald English chaps outside the indoor market trying to give away scratch cards, I scratched off the 3 symbols and guess what, I won 1000 euro's cash but they wanted me to go to a specific place with a visa card, again bye, bye and off we went, I'm not that dull.
The only bad bit about the Oasis was the smell from the toilets in our room (2212) and also requested a none smoking room that was in the quiet part of the hotel, what we got was a room over the pool area that stank of fags, smelt like a toilet and when I called reception they didn't want to know so we purchased air refresh spray that helped, owe yeh and the Thompson rep just said to put the toilet lid down and close the bath and basins plugs to stop 90% of the smell and if that didn't help they can put tablets down to help get rid of the other 10%.
Did visit the China Garden across the road Friday night (yesterday) we had a bottle of wine, chips, beef curry, rice, crackers, won ton soap and spring rolls and it came to 16 euro's now they are cheap but I did have a Spanish tummy on the way home mind you.
Owe yeh, Thompson rep did say they was opening up the restaurant for us at 6:30AM so we could get a continental breakfast before we got on the bus at 6:50 - 7:00AM but the restaurant didn't know anything so we all went without breakfast, who's fault was that I don't know?
Entertainment was poor.
Main pool is OK but the sun bed rush still goes on (mad).
Food was great.
Drinks all free in the VIP room but the rubbish they sell in the bar downstairs is utter cods wallop.
Roof pool was fab and room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels.
Me and the misses did see a so called Sticky Vicky version in Jokers bar (11PM) but a whiskey and coke plus a southern comfort and coke was 11.50 euro's a round so I thought that was expensive.
Did looked at a few video camera's while I was there and was tempted to get one HD camcorder with battery, case, charger and card for 50 euro's (Sony) but the seller said it came with a 110V charger, was not a problem cos I could of got one from Ebay but no good to me out there was it so I didn't bother, I knocked him down from over 100 Euro's and when I said I didn't have enough money on me he said to leave my wife as a deposit (was tempted) misses was not happy mind you :).
Purchased a few bottled of booze and forgot about the liquid in hand luggage and the airport security blew a fuse when she seen the booze and threw my misses booze in the bin but she did give it us back and allowed us to go back downstairs and check our hand luggage in as cargo and they survived the trip as well.
Anyway, home now and back to work on Monday.
Thanks all.
Agree about the food in the FO...it was good when we stayed there, but as you say the drinks downstairs were simply horrible...we stuck to water..and drank outside the hotel!
Best Regards - Taggy
