Thanks honkeytonk.
You are right, it is No 10 - I've read on another forum that No 10 bus goes to the old town. Handy to know to get off at Don Pancho. Can anyone suggest any good bars/entertainment to look out for?

Hi this Hotel has been suggested to me for a short break in July. I have read the reviews but can anyone tell me who has been recently what they thought of the food and if you are half board can you have lunch instead on your evening meal. Thanks

Have stayed at the Levante Club Hotel 4 times now and in my opinion it it is the best hotel I have sampled in Benidorm. The rooms, particularly the bathroom far outdo any other hotel we have stayed at. The food is as good as most other hotels though I have to say not outstanding, though the restaurant is fabulous and all the staff, both in the restaurant and generally are great.
The only reason I will probably not return to the the hotel is the location. It is not at all a bad location for someone who is reasonably fit or who uses an electric wheelchair, unfortunately I fall between the two. On our first 3 visits we did not find the location a problem. It is only latterly as our health has detiorated we have ruled out the hotel. But if someone who has minor mobility problems like ourselves but wants to spend most of their time about the hotel or pool, it could be ideal or the same for those for the walk to the nightlife would not be a problem.
To give a contrast, Hotels we have stayed in, in recent years are Dalmatas (3 times) Dated but would go back. Ambassador (twice) would go back, Marina (would not go back) Pelicanos/Ocas, would not go back. Rosaire, understand it is currently having a re furbishment but even bfore that we didn't find it as bad as the reviews. Presidente. OK. Would consider. We have also stayed in apartments some of which were great and some bad

Thanks for the info. The area would not be a problem to us as we have stopped at the Flamingo Oasis before and like the walk in on a night and our other choice is the Melia. We have stopped at the Pelicanos and we would go back so if the Levante is better in your opinion it should be a good choice. Do you know if you are half board can you take lunch instead of evening meal. Thanks

Only ever stayed in the Melia for a 1 night stay so not really in a position to judge the difference between Melia and Levante Club for meals. I thought the room in the Levante Club was far superior.
Don't know about swapping lunch for dinner. Our last visit (November 2008) room was not ready when we arrived about noon. We were booked half board and were offered a complimentary lunch until room was ready. Other times we have stayed we were full board so never had to decide between lunch and dinner though we seldom went for lunch, preferring a late breakfast and early dinner. The hotel really puts themselves out to help with anything so try e-mailing, the address is further up this thread.

levante is over 16's only from may

luv2tan, is that a new thing (the over 16's)? As I know they used to be adults only, but when we were there last year, it had been lifted (we went in July).

However, there weren't very child friendly, so maybe they have brought the rule back.

Thomson are selling it as a Gold hotel from May, so mainly adults only.

yeah its a new thing. According to their website they will have a new entertainment team to coincide.

well stayed here for a couple of weeks after it went to Thomson Gold. As far as i could see there was nobody under 60 apart from me, the staff and the entertainment team. The professional shows were actually the 4 resident members of the entertainment team stringing a few songs together. Not great. The one plus that if you book straight with the hotel the premium rooms are amazing value as everything is free, including daily mineral water and anything you use from the tea tray, supplied robes and slippers, free safe, free fridge, free porn channel on flat screen tv :tup
btw, food here is truly awful.

It looked empty on Tueday, all the curtains were shut on the rooms as if they were vacant.

no..not empty. This time last year there was about 6 of us using the pool. This year same time there was about 60 out there. The bar was packed in the evening too.

Just contacted the hotel and upgraded to a premium room. The rooms are the same but you get a bigger balcony with sunloungers, wine & fruit, bathrobes & slippers, 2 visits/room to the spa, tea/coffee facilites and the fridge & safe are free to use. It was going to cost us 5.5 euros/night for the fridge & safe hire so for 10 euros/ night I think its a good deal.

I`ve been pricing this hotel for a two week stay this July. It is a Thomson gold and available as all inclusive. The drinks are described as national and local. Would anyone know if national would include branded spirits such as bacardi. Also is the room upgrade worth the extra £10 pp per day . I`ve e-mailed Thomson but no reply as yet.
Thank you.

We upgraded last year in July (only stayed for 4 nights) and we thought it was worth it. We emailed the hotel direct and they charged us 10 euros/room/night so it only cost 40 euros for the 4 nights. Dont know if its still the case but its was 5.5 euros/night to hire the fridge and safe but this is included in the price if you upgrade so the upgrade only cost us 4.5 euros/night. We got 1 free pass for us both for the spa, tea/coffee, fruit basket and wine which we used. We also got bathrobes and slippers (big fluffy bathrobes) but it was too hot for them, the loungers are a nice idea but we never got any sun on our balcony when we were up there so didnt use them much.

As for the drinks I think they had national brands, they had bottled largers and ciders too. Its better to check with Thomsons whats included because every hotel is different but when we were there we thought the drinks were expensive so A/I could be a good option.
