hi some friends of ours have just returned from benidorm he was attacked and mugged seems there has been quite a few down the side of hotel monaco putting this post on just to let people beware dont go down that way on your own seems theyare waiting for people late at night when we been down that way we have seen them in groups

I'm pretty sure the Monaco is closed at the moment, not sure when it re-opens. Was completely gutted out (I hope they lose those awful blue balcony awnings!!)

I can confirm the Monaco is shut, we drove past close to it. All the rooms were gutted and balconies were open, not a blue awning in site, just the sides.the pool area was like a crater left by a bomb. It will not be open this year.

Hopefully they'll see sense and drop the All Inclusive option too...the site isn't big enough and its a good enough hotel in the first place!

We stayed at the Monaco 6 years ago and had a fabulous time. We have often said that the best hotel food we have ever had was in this hotel, we had 3 gala nights a week, puddings to die for. The last reviews I can find are back in 2006 and there was talk of a refurbishment. Does anyone know if this took place and if you can book to visit again. It was only bookable with Thomsons on hb in summer and all inc in the winter.I can`t seem to find anyone that has it on their systems.

As I recall, the building was totally gutted last year when we went past, so it probably will still be in the middle of rennovations.

Thanks for quick reply, I am in Benidorm in August, so I will have a walk to see if it is open again. I did notice that it wasn`t on Mar Conforts web site, this must be why?

The building is still in bits. They do seem to be working on it from time to time when we walk past, but all that is there just now seems to be the main concrete structure with blue netting where the balconies used to be. There is also a huge hole where the pool and outdoor area was.

It does seem to be taking quite a while.
