Hi People, after a bit of advice...........
Me and My partner (mid 20's) are going to Benidorm 9th June staying at the Monaco Hotel. First holiday in a while without the little one.
Have heard that this hotel was meant to be updated this year? is this true?
Also , has anyone stayed there as been no reviews on the hotel since feb.
How expensive is Benidorm? Beer, food etc etc and are there any good excursions that people would recommend.
Although we are staying all inc we defo want to get out and about.
Thanks in advance
Jamie
well i have never stayed there but i can tell you that benidorm is really really cheap...
Not a popular hotel then? GRRRRREAT !!
All I can recall is that we were very satisfied and had no complaints. We saw the Monoco around 2001 sometime and the refurbishment we saw then was impressive. What it is like now in 2006.....I'm sorry I cannot help you.
A couple of my relatives stayed in the Monaco 2 years ago and had no complaints about it.
As for what to do and see there is so much just in Benidorm and as its your first time you might not find the time for excursions!
But a must is to go the Old Town, if you go down to the beach, turn right and walk along the prom you will come to it, or you can walk along the main road. There is a lovely little beach there and it is where Poniente Beach starts. And I'm sure once your down there you will find your way up to the nicest place in Beni which is where the viewing platform and the Church with the golden doors are.
Also the buses can take you to some of the surrounding areas such as Altea and Albir.
Food and drink is as cheap or expensive as you want .

One thing I recall about the Monoco was the the pool was very small. A very small circular design if I am right. Of course that may have changed now, but the pool did used to be very small (in the 1980's) and did get a bit overcrowded.

Hi Jamie....I'm sure you will be one of thousands of UK tourists wearing an *England Shirt* in Benidorm right now Seriously, if my recollections of the Monoco are anything to go by you should not have cause for any complaints.
I was being sarcastic

Cheers for the confidence boost regarding the hotel. Im sure I will have fun whatever....
I know you was mate, so was I You will have *fun* in Benidorm no matter what. Have a great time.......wish I was going to but unfortunately due to my father having another heart attack a few weeks back all our holiday plans for this year have had to be sheleved. But the Monaco is a fine Hotel, you should have no worries.
The other good thing about the Monaco is the situation a 5 min walk and you`re in the old town be sure to have a good walk about in Beni as there`s loads to see.
Price wise you can get a beer for 1 euro if you lookabout. A chinese meal of the day for 3-7 euros including half a bottle of wine, or a beer. There`s lots of places advertising cheap drinks on boards outside and lots of happy hours. The dearest bars are the ones with cabert on but there still not too bad. Breakfast from 1 euro.
Have a good time I promise you`ll be hooked, like everyone else is.

PRSO ... I am afraid that I have had to remove your posts. It may have been intended as a 'wind up', but to post ill-founded, derogatory and potentially libelous comments such as that about any hotel is irresponsible, causing unnecessary worry to holidaymakers who have already booked, and possibly resulting in them changing or cancelling their holiday. Holidaytruths is our name, not Holiday Wind-Ups !!
I thought this might be useful to anybody staying at the Monaco Hotel in benidorm:

Although this video is before any refurbishment that has taken place, it gives you a good insight into the hotel
hope this helps
