I have been to the Ocas 4 times now and I wouldnt stay anywhere else in Benidorm.
The staff have always been helpfull and polite and always willing to go out of their way to help when needed.
The pool at the Pelicanos is the best in Benidorm as well or should I say - The Lake!
Its a splendid base for anyone wanting to go to Benidorm with a family, as it is close to the beach and the surrounding attractions as well!
Sanji's video clips of the Sol Ocas and Sol Pelicanos are now in a new home ...
Just booked to go to this hotel in June/July for 15 nights.
Been to Benidorm loads of times but I've never stayed in this hotel so just a few quick questions for those who have.
Can you hire a fridge and how much does it cost?
Do you have to pay for the kids club?
What is the sunbed situation like - if we got round the pool at say 11am would we still be likely to get 4 beds?
We are going half board but will have beakfast and lunch instead of diner as we like to go out for evening meals - what time does breakfast and lunch start/finish.
Would you say the hotel is child friendly? We have two daughters they will be 9 and 22 months when we go.
Any info much appreciated.
Sarah.
You do have to pay for the kids club, although we didn't use it, the itinerary looked really good and all the kids seemed to be having a great time. Not sure of the cost but I remember thinking that it looked reasonably priced.
Although it does get busy around the pool we always managed to get a bed, and that was usually mid afternoon, at 11am I would have thought that you should be ok as there are plenty and also in June there should be the "towel monitor" checking that people who are using the pool are in fact residents. She also go around removing towels on unoccupied beds.
Sorry can't remember what time breakfast and lunch are but you could p.m. cazzmickntom as they were there at the same time as us so she may remember.
I would say that the hotel is child friendly, there were lots of families there in May/June when we were there.
By the way, happy hour is 5-6pm daily when all drinks excluding cocktails are 2 for 1.
We really liked the Pelicanos and would stay there again.
Hope that helps.
Sue
Sorry I can't be of any help regarding the breakfsts as my son and I don't do early rising on holiday. No seriosly, hubby did and he seems to think it was 8am till 10 am. We didn't have lunch in the restaurant but did pass occasionaly and I think it was usually open about 1pm, don't know what time till. There is a bar by the lake pool that does meals till late afternoon, pizza's, burgers, that sort of stuff.
We didn't use the kids club but knew people who did. They told us it was E15 initially, as kids get goody bag, then E3 after that. They also opened several nights a week too, giving you time to have a drink in piece if that's what you wanted.
Have a great holiday and like Sue said, plenty beds available when the monitor is attending.!
We will be staying at this hotel again the next time we visit Benidorm.
Pity Globespan cancelled our flight and we were a night short
Can't wait to go back in October and then again Jan 09 (different hotels)
Have emailed the hotel and requested a room in the Pelicanos instead of Ocas, but as its only for 3 nights it doesn't really matter.
Jo
When we arrived to check in we were asked if we wanted high/low floor. I opeted for high floor with a view of the large pool, we were on 8th floor in the Pelicanos. I'm not sure if the Ocas was open.
Just wondered how the building works opposite are progressing.
12 Days to go and I hope the weather stays nice and sunny for us as it is my new families first holiday abroad together
Well I am in benidorm at the moment with my partner and her two daughters and i have to say that I have never had to complain as much on holiday ever. We are staying at the pelicanos which we were happy about but to be honest, the service from the a lot of the staff has been shocking! For starters, we flew in from east midlands on thursday morning and arrived here - only to be told one of our two twin rooms was not ready which was bad enough as we were all shattered and to be told that we would have to wait another couple of hours for another twin to become available was beyond a joke! Then when one came up we were on seperate floors also! Not pleased at all so far and i will put on the rest of the farce later tonight...
Standard check in time for hotels worldwide is 3pm. If you get in before that time it is a bonus. If it was after that time then you may have cause for complaint.
We just booked a last minute booking last night to this hotel for next Saturday for a week. We have been to Benidorm loads of times but never late March / early April. Can anyone tell me if the pool is open , if it is to early in the year to swim in it. I dont mind to much but would like to at least lie round it on a nice day, ( providing we get one ha ). I am going to take a chance and email the hotel asking for a low floor and to stay in the Pelicanoes I have rheumatoid arthritis and would like to watch out on the pool from my balcony of I cant make it out. I also dont really know about clothes wise should I pack shorts and tops or jeans and jumpers haaa
The pool will definitely be open but at this time of year it will be chilly chilly chilly
Just got back from the pelicanos and can honestly say I would never return to that hotel again, ( will write review shortly ) , the service of the staff was very rude, no tables cleared ever in the dining room and the food was undescribable. The location and the pool are fantastic but that isnt the most important thing on holiday and unfortunetly the food is an important factor. this was our fifth time in Beni 3 other hotels and once self catering in gemeloes and this was the biggest dissapoinment by far.
Sorry to hear that Debpingu, we stayed there last year and I can honestly say that we couldn't fault the Pelicanos, I'm sure Cazzmickntom would back me up on this as they were there at the same time and they didn't have any complaints either. The food must have deteriorated as whilst we were there I must say it was far better than average. We will be staying the Los Dalmatas in July so I hope that's ok cos I enjoy my food and we will be full board
We are booking up to go again 2009 and a work collegue has been staying here twice a year for the last 6.
Thanks girls , I agree he hotel itself was fab and we enjoyed every minute of it. Location cleansliness and everything accept the food and the dining room were second to none. If they did a self catering option I would be back in a tick but the fact that we paid for a half board holiday then ended up having to pay for the meals as well put us off a bit. As for Benidorm is was as fantastic as it always is , the reason we all love it so much ha
I agree with what Debpingu is saying about this place, its costing us a bomb eating out all the time, the food is terrible, not much choice and undercooked (the chicken i tried was pink when i cut into it) the tables are never cleaned and reset quick enough, I´ll never come back to this hotel again, its the Rio Park for me again without a doubt.
Oh dear, sorry to here that Scarborosmoggy, it was fine last May/June, I suppose a lot of things can change in a year though.
