Thank you David. It worked a treat. I think I'll cancel my Holiday Inn booking and go here instead as I'm going to a meeting in Glasgow Uni and this would be handier for me, especially for parking.

Hi rhubard .... it is certainly conveniently located for Glasgow Uni. But being situated on the busy Sauchiehall Street, surrounded by residential and business premises, and close to the West End, City Centre, University and a couple of hospitals, I suspect that parking may not be so easy.

Thanks again David. I know where the hotel is as it's across from my dentist and there are places on that end of Sauchiehall Street where there is disabled parking.
I have booked and told the proprieter that I got the recommendation on here.

The hotel is lovely. Family run, mother daughter and grandaughter.
It is up the quite end of Sauchiehall St, near the park and uni.
I would return here. Lovely clean rooms, power shower, lovely breakfast...

A quick update on my trip.
I found my 5th cousin on Genes Reuntied, who met us at the Mitchell Library. He picked us up at out hotel the next morning and drove us everywhere. Duntocher, Old Kilpatrick cemetery, Kilmaronock (near Balloch/Drymen) to another cemetery where my family are buried.
We went to Loch Lomond, the Trossochs, Ben Loch, Campise, saw Lennox Castle from above (where my mum in law was born)
I saw the house my family lived in in 1891.
We went over Erskine bridge very high up glad I didn't look down
We had a fab time.

Shopping on the Friday was great, the shops are wonderful, everything is there.

And we had a good ol' sing song in the pub

Would love to go back to Glasgow and the Kelvingrove hotel. 10/10

The hotel sounds grand. We go tomorrow and it's nice and handy for the university where I have to be. I cancelled my booking with the Holiday Inn.

You'll have a great time Rhubarb, the staff are great, someone is ther 24 hours a day. they have a water cooler in the dining room, so you can fill up any time. Kettle in the room, hair dryer etc....

Have been waiting for your post as I thought it was round about this time you were paying a visit to Scotland. Sounds as though things went well. Hope you enjoyed everything. The Campsies are right on my doorstep and I have a brother who was born in Lennox Castle too.

We all had a great time. They had a mini heat wave what more could we ask for.
I saw sunshine, rain drops the size of 10 pence pieces and the last of the snow in the mountains

Remember you asked you friend if he was related to my Munn's, well I found a descendant who made my trip extra special, he is a very kind, special man, who I will always keep in touch with.

The Campsie are beautiful, I was watching them work on the grounds of Lennox castle. Are they pulling it down next year?

Everyone was so kind and helpful, I love Scotland Oh I can feel a song coming on now lol.

I'm delighted you enjoyed your visit to my home country. The sunshine you saw was probably our summer .. Unfortunately Lennox Castle will probably be knocked down (possibly not if it is a listed building) but Celtic Football Club are building a training ground where the grounds of the old hospital used to be. For the better I think and may give some much needed employment to the area of Lennoxtown. So .. might you return to Bonnie Scotland one day ?

I saw on the internet that Celtic had bought the grounds, and I saw the diggers in action. The castle is a bad way, and falling apart, what a sham.
But yes if it brings work in to the area it will be great.

Will I come back ? Yes !!!! My parents have already said they want to go to Edinburgh, but I want to go back to Glasgow, OK, Duntocher, Kilmaronock "not on the map" near Balloch, where my family came from.
I have lots more places to visit, and I want to go to the museum/tennements.

If that was you summer glad I was there for it lol.
