We have stayed in both the Salou Princess and the Europa park and I can recommend them both. Admittedly it was several years ago but the reports on HT review section endorse my opinion. They are in an excellent position too.

Stayed at the El Paso in the summer, which was a nice hotel with a lovely pool, although its on the outskirts of Salou. It did give unlimited access to the theme park, which is a bonus if your into that kind of thing.
I've been to Salou and stayed in Med. Village twice, ab fab and Cambrils Park Bungalows, which are lovely. Portaventura theme park is brilliant for all ages. We are already booked for next year, to go to the Salauris Palace,which is really close to the theme park. We are a family of four and love Salou
If you want a bit of luxury , go for the Sol Costa Dorada. Its 4 star and we pay 30euros per night half board.I have been once in december and going again this weekend. http://www.solcostadaurada.com/
