Alanya is cosmopolitan, plenty of night life ..good mix of Europeans and Turks...not as many Germans as people think..they mix Dutch and Danes and Germans up because the language is similar...and the english that are there are held in check because they are not visible.
Cirali is super as has been mentioned..i spent some days there recently at Canada Hotel..gorgeous.
For a really great holiday place you have to go to the stretch of the Med between Anamur and Mersin.
AND the best place out of the many along there is Kızkalesi...this is where many Turkish people have holiday homes, there is a super beach, some nice hotels big and small, low key night life, the best fish restaurants in Turkey..and the surrounding area is brimming with ancient Greek cities as well as sites that are famed in Greek Myths..such as the Caves of Heaven and Hell.
The castle of Kızkalesı (Maidens Castle) is set on a little island off shore ,the setting is spectacular.
To get there you have to fly to Ä°stanbul and then to Adana and then its about 90 minutes..so its a trek..but the effort is rewarded by the discoveries you make.
Any info would be of great help. I love Marmaris but it is nice to escape the madness now and again!
Cheers
spend the day in a mosque !
LOL. I would think if you go to anywhere that is in the main TO brochures you are going to be with tourists, British, Russian and German mainly I would have thought.
I think if you want a package, then Anatolian Sky and Exclusive Escapes, both previously mentioned, are the tour operators that go off the beaten track.
Turunc is a nice resort, fairly low key but with a nice beach and some lovely restaurants. There are British there but not lager louts. If you want them catch the boat taxi along to iccmelar and Marmaris. We did just to revisit Iccmelar, having been there a few years ago, and it was unrecognisable, we caught the boat back within a couple of hours to the sanctuary of Turunc. The medditeranian coast has fewer British, mainly German, Dutch, Fin and Norweigan, and unfortunately many Russians are now all over the place. These can be more obnoxious when drunk than can the British, and are so rude to staff at hotels, but seem to have lots of cash to splash.
does the package, by Anatolian Sky and Exclusive Escapes include organising flights and are the hotel full board and full AI, do you know please
The packages by those companies do include the flights (and transfers and a rep). The hotels vary in what board they offer. Have a look at their websites.
Can I ask when you are going to ?
I dont like crowded places too. So usually I hire a car and travel, its more interesting and fun.
try doing the package yourself..... here's some accomodation just 15 mins from Marmaris...
Hi, the small resorts of Kalkan and Dalyan are relatively quiet and not full of British holidaymakers, like for example Marmaris, but are not too remote, in my opinion.
