hi there , we just had 9 nights in Hua Hin and had a great time. The reason for visiting HH was to stay in the wonderful Anantara hotel where we stayed 3 years ago.
I must say the last time we visited HH I was not over impressed by the town but loved the hotel so we decided to visit again after a visit to Laos.
On arrival late at night we were advised on check in at the Anantara that all rooms were full but they would take us to the Wora Bura hotel for 1 night then the next day we would be picked up and brought back to the Anantara where we would then be a upgraded to a Lagoon room for the remaining 8 nights !!!!!!!!!!! these rooms are fantastic so I was more than happy to accept this.
We spent aqll our days relaxing by the pool , apart from 1 very long day when we visited the tiger temple in Kanchanaburi and the weather was perfect.
Hua Hin town was a nice surprise for me and seemed much better than my last visit and we grew to love it.
Good restaurants were the Hua Hin brewing company by the Hilton hotel - great steak, Maharaja Indian was fantastic , Moonsmile and Platoo was a little basic place which was very cheap and the Thai food was to die for, I also loved the Thai food in Orchids restaurant.
All in all we loved it there and hope to return maybe in a few years time as there are so many other places I would like to try out , I am glad we visited and still adore the Anantara hotel.
We enjoyed massages on the beach for 300 baht, bought lots of things on the night market which is great, on Soi Bintabat near the Hilton is a girly bar area , good fun and quite safe for a drink and to people watch.
A bit more to do than Ko Samui , so this would be my area of choice if visiting thailand in the summer months.
The weather was good then? Did you see any rain?
That was lucky !!!!!!!!!!!!! It was wall to wall sunshine every day
with any luck you will see some sun here to- supposedly we are about to get our summer
We are on our way to Samui, Phuket and Bangkok in 2 weeks 6 days. Can't wait.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the Anantara. I did when I first went 4 years ago, it was fab, especially the nighttime BBQ's! I revisited in November for a visit and it felt like it was fraying round the edges - also there were some audible mutterings about overly pushy tour guides employed by the hotel!
Probably changed a bit since it was the Royal Garden Village when I last visited Mind you thats the company that still owns it despite all the name changes over the years.
Hi Shirley thanks for your post. Would you kindly write your review for this hotel by
The only negative is I think it is very expensive for eating and drinking, loved every minute and would go back again.
The Maharaja Indian was our favourite restaurant in Hua-Hin last year.
I don't mean to sound rude, but your favourite restaurant while in Thailand was an Indian?????
no Wayne , my favourite restaurant in Hua Hin was an Indian, my favourite restaurant in Thailand is a Thai restaurant in Bophut Ko Samui.
Oh I see Which restaurant are you referring to in Bophut? Its a lovely place, its got more of a holiday resort feeling than some other places on KS.
The restaurant in Bophut is Happy Elephant - I love it
Can't place the Happy Elephant. Where is it in relation to Starfish and Coffee? BTW, the quote about the Indian restaurant was from debs81.
the happy elephant is on the same side of the road as starfish not too far away.
As we agree on the Maharajah, we will look at trying your recommendation of the happy elephant when we visit Samui in 17 days!!!
