as some of you know, I will be in Goa in October. I only have a few days there as it is at the end of Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and Mumbai. I have a funny feeling I will be exhausted by that time and will want to spend most of my time relaxing.
If you could only pick one trip, which would it be? Or am I better just hiring a driver for a day or two to see a bit more of Goa- even if it is just to different beaches?
If You could find someone doing the trip to Dudshagar Waterfalls I'd go for that. It'll give you a taste of the Goan hinterland, a run up the Western Ghats, and the falls will be at their best at the end of the monsoon. The little tourist taxis get you so far but the last bit needs a four wheel drive and I,m not sure whats in place that early in the season. Daytrippers will be able to advise you, although they wont be open for business, Eddie and Enid will be in the office at the top of the road you are staying on, and will advise you, as will any of the staff at your accomodation Alan
Fiona,
Take a day trip to Palolem, find a decent car taxi as it is a 2+ hour ride and you dont want a numb b*m when you get there. Also get the driver to take the scenic route near the coast rather than the main highway, this will take you through lots of villages, stop for a drink on the way at one of the roadside bars.

Hi Fiona pleased to know that you had good time in Madrid.
When in Goa don,t forget to go to Old Goa the church there
is really worth seeing also the museum across the road from
the church, you can also visit Panjim the same time as its close
by again worth a visit. but not to be missed.

hi fiona, i would go on the floating palace trip. the old converted rice boat. the wife and i did it this year
and had a really nice relaxing 24 hours. we just cruised along the rivers, ate and drank, and watched the world and wild life go by.
four couples on the boat maximum.
large cabin quite comfortable, but sat out side most of the time.
food prepared on board by Raj and the team, very good it was too.
FANTASTIC
I'd say take your pick from the above.
If you want a day by the sea go to Palolem.
If you want to see "sights" take a taxi rather than a tour bus to Dudhsagar falls, then get the taxi to stop on the way back at either the Spice Farm near Ponda, one of the temples near Ponda, Old Goa or Panjim. If you leave early (most taxi drivers seem to prefer an early start) you can get to Dudhsagar quite early. Once you are there the guides/four wheel drivers tend to hassle you to get back after an hour or so, so unless you want to just sit by the falls for a long while, you can get back to the taxi by lunch time, then stop off at one or more of the places on the way back. It's a couple of hours drive or more, so a break on the way back would make it more enjoyable.
