Indian Airlines fly direct from Dabolim Airport to Cochin every Tuesday.
I can highly recommend Indian Airlines, their pure veg meals are probably the best airline food I've ever eaten.

i too recomend indian airlines ,,we flew to channai last year with them stopping at cochin (kerela) ,the food was out of this world puts ours to shame. best bit was we flew to cochin first roughly 1hr and was giving sweets for take off and then a meal ,a large meal too. also newspapers ,we landed and stayed on board while the passengers alighted and new ones got on ,then sweets came out again and yes 
we had another meal

Just reading the above post Ladyjan you have told us about the lovely food and the sweets for take off ......and they say India is a third world country they could put our airlines to shame

Last August we flew into Goa from Mumbai on a Saturday afternoon.....it was our 12 visit to Goa and at Dabolim airport we have always had the same long delays getting through passport control and trying to find our bags on the carosel......but because we did not have to go through passport control due to it been a internal flight....from stepping off the plane...getting our bags and getting into a taxi it took 12mins.....if only it could be like that when you fly directly into Goa..
Trick is, get off the plane and RUN.......

My gripe with the airport on my last arrival at Dabolin was in the toilet - no toilet paper where you needed it - the lady was handing out sheets of it so you could wipe your hands as you washed them
We didn't pay a penny this year to any porters, although one very nicely held my hand as I pulled my suitcase along Our coach driver tried to get a tip when he dropped us off, implying that he wasn't going to unlock the boot and let us have a cases until we did - yeah right! Then we had a porter get in quick and put them on a trolley, 2 seconds later he launched into a very loud argument with another who wanted our cases, so we calmly picked them up and walked off - don't think they even realised we had gone

Could anyone advise if the duty free is open at the airport when the First Choice flight departs at 6am - and we have to be at the airport at 4am! Have no idea why I'm thinking of when we leave Goa when we've still got a month until we go again!!! Forward planning.....

what types of spirits do they sell at the airport and roughly what costs ?

If you buy from the food counter dont let him give you the change in sweets haha, I saw a guy get a cadburys rose for 20 rups
better buy duty paid and pack it in your case bucause you are not allowed liquids in your hand luggage and i doubt it is any cheeper at the duty free may be duty free but not profit free
we paid £13 for a litre of whiskey (not a quality brand) and a litre of bombay sapphire gin.
they sell whiskey, Teachers, Famous Grouse, Grants.
brandy, cant remember which labels but certainly Remy Martin was there.
vodka, Smirnoff and Romanov
honeybee is not sold there so buy it in the resort if you want it
you can only pay with sterling or credit card
we took our purchases on board as hand luggage with no problem.

We took bottles of opened water on board with us on the 4th March. No questions asked.
You can take bottles purchased in duty free on board both in Britain and abroad. You can't take bottles through security in Britain, but in Goa, we too were allowed to take water through security and onto the plane.
Duty free prices don't compare with local shops... well, it's hard to get a bottle of gin or brandy for less than 110 rupees anywhere, but you can buy big brands at reduced prices. Depends what premium you put on Honeybee vs Remy Martin, Blue Riband vs Bombay Saphire but expect to pay considerably more !
