we will be flying to mumbai and want to book our internal flight to goa when we arrive we've not done this before we have taken the train down
a few questions we need answers to please

when we arrive at the international airport in mumbai after collecting our cases can we go to a desk to check flight availability for an internal flight and book it or do we have to go to the domestic airport first and check things out there ?

if we can check availability and book at the international airport how do we catch the shuttle bus to the domestic airport ?

There are booths where you can book internal flights.
As you are about to leave the international airport there is an opening on left hand side, go through and you can get the bus to the domestic terminals.
If you fly Jet you can book your cases there before going to the domestic terminal.
You can also book online from here before you go.

Johnwoody (hello Anita)
The transfer bus we found really easy. When on the bus there is more than one gate the bus does 2 stops. If you know which airline you want to fly with it should be ok. I am sure I saw ticket/ sales desks in the Domestic airport and if your flight gets in early enough you should get on one of the domestic flights to Goa as there are plenty of them. The very early one is probably the busiest because a lot of people arrivals from the UK the night before. I think the first stop on the transfer bus is for Jet airlines. The second stop was for Indian airlines and kingfisher, I know there were others. Hope this helps a bit.

The cheapest is Air Decca but there planes leave a lot to be desired, really there is only about 10 pounds, difference in price with Decca and Kingfisher.

We,re flying into Mumbai with Emirates and on down to Dabolim with Jet. Can you check in at the Jet desk which is located just before the exit to the transfer coach on the international side, or have you got to lug your luggage onto the transfer bus and check in at the domestic side ? The lastntime we did it we were jet right through from the U.K. Alan

flew with them last year, you can check in at the jet desk there, and they will take you luggage for you, and they also had there own bus to take you to take you to the other terminal.

Afew years ago we were on "daytrippers first ever trip to Mumbai We did it on one of theie 12 seater coaches and there was three couples and two drivers. It was a long long journey, if I recall it it took about 14 hours in all from leaving Goa to our arrival at our hotel just behind The Taj. It was a real white knuckle ride and not one I'd recommend to anyone. Our drivers were great but the near misses and lorry crashes are still fresh in my memory. During our journey, at one of our stops, there was a small white tourist taxi from Goa stopped there, with the driver and an elderly couple who had hired him, to take them to Mumbai, so it is possible. We had a fairly long stop at the custom post on leaving Goa, so knowing India it's quite possible the taxi from Mumbai would not have the paperwork necessary to get him between States. In short having done the trip both ways it's not one that I would advise Alan

I googled it and got what you've already said Alan- 14 hours. Cost about £70.

It costs around 50 pound each to fly from Mumbai, it only takes an hour, and it is a lot more comfortable, I know which way I'd prefer.

Thank you for quick replies. We usually fly down from Mumbai to Goa and so do our friends, but they were wondering about the taxi. Didn't think it was a very good idea! Thank you anyway.

Namaste to all,

We have a few questions regarding Mumbai Airport transfers for onward flights to Dabolim. Using BA to Mumbai, we normally transit to Dabolim using Indian Airlines and we are reasonably experienced with the transfer between T1 and T2 at Mumbai.

Shortly, we will be flying the same route down to Goa but this time we will be using Kingfisher Airlines for a change. We would like any information on the transfer process when using Kingfisher Airlines, here are our queries?
:?: Can we use the internal coach facility and the initial bag x-ray and sealing straps located in T2 if using Kingfisher Airlines?
:?: Do you know if Kingfisher will accept these bag sealing straps or will the bags have to be further x-rayed & sealed again at T1B?
:?: My husband thinks it would be better to reclaim the bags on landing and then grab a taxi and just turn up at T1B as if this was just an internal flight. Any opinions on this?

Thanks in advance.

On arrival at Mumbai you have reclaim your baggage. It is put on the transfer coach. On arrival at the domestic terminal you should see a bell boy in Kingfisher uniform who will take your cases to check in where they will be ex-rayed again and put on board the flight to Goa. If you have any duty free liquids these will have to be packed in your case before the flight to Goa or placed in the hold.

We arrived at 9.00 am with Emirates via Dubai. 10 min. took us through immigration, 5 min to get cases then short walk to transfer coach with luggage You must have boarding passes or some form of ticket for your domestic leg or you will be turned away from coach. Then its over to the domestic terminal, first stop for Jet, Jet Lite and Indigo, then on to the second stop for the other domestic carriers. You the have to put your baggage through the xray scanner before you check in. Alan

Thanks Gramps for writing in.

The reason I asked was, this year we got the bags x-rayed and sealed before getting on the coach. When we got off the transfer coach at the last stop I checked in at Indian Airlines only to be sent back to the entrance to get the bags re x-rayed as they (IA) would not accept the International Terminal's procedures. Any way thanks to you both, you have put me on the right path for next month.

Good to see that the arrivals at Mumbai International Arrivals is still fast.

On my way back to the UK last saturday from the Domestic to International I encounted some new proceedures which were not in place on previous trips. I was travelling with Jet Airways then BA.
The new arrivals hall for Jet Airways (and some others) in the Domestic Terminal is now open. Here you now have to get a ticket with a queueing number for the bus from the Information stand by the baggage reclaim. Next to the door to the bus there is a screen which can show the numbers being called for the next bus. When I was there the numbers stayed as "0 to 0" as it wasn't busy at that time, I can't say whether the numbers are being used at peak times or not. The security guard by the door did ask to see my ticket. The screens also have the departure time of the next bus, they seemed to be every 45 minutes.

If you are travelling Jet/BA or Jet/Jet your bags can be through checked from Dabolim and they do not appear on the baggage reclaim in the Domestic terminal. That part hasn't changed, but now before you exchange boarding passes at BA's check-in at the International you have to have your hand baggage screened.
