apologies because I'm sure this musthave been covered before but I don't know Portugal very well and whilst I can find lots of post suggesting bars in the restaurant/ bar section mostly i don't have the faintest idea where town is never mind where abouts the bar is in the town.
I'll be staying in Val do lobo which I think might be close to vilamoura and quarteria for 2 weeks come Tuesday. I need to have internet access across this time so I can access my work server (it's my year end!). All I need is an internet connection and I can connect to my network at work. I've a laptop with wi-fi so ideally I'm after a bar or restaurant as close to Val do Lobo as possible, preferably a free connection but if not as cheap as possible, where I can get internet access.
any help would be much appreciated
Fritz
Maybe a McDonalds will have free wi-fi. Someone may advise.
thanks for the suggestion. Maccy D's is a thought and don't get me wrong here because I go there at least once amonth in the uk but I don;t think the wife will wear me sitting in maccy d's for an hour a day for 2 weeks. I was thinking somewhere a bit more sardines & wine

Perhaps they do "McSardines". Can't help with the wine though, I don't drink.

http://www.totalhotspots.com/directory/pt/vilamoura hope the link works for you. At least the Dom Pedro Golf hotel is a nice and you can leave your wife around the pool, area so she can get some sun or a nice glass of vinho.
Hi Fritz, besides Mc donalds in Vilamoura the Dom Pedro Golf hotel has a hot spot and apparently its free registration and the operator is PT Wi Fi. Browns Club in Vilamoura also have a hot spot but its payable. Have a look at the website Several people I know, regular visitors, have bought Portuguese 3G service from one of the big companies.
Provided the roaming charges aren't so bad, it might be more useful in the long run and certainly beats sitting in McDonalds in Vilamoura for hours on end.
Vale de Lobo is not exactly a town, more a golf course with large houses round it.
robby, you know if I found mcsardines there it really wouldn;t surprise me.
jayjan the Dom Pedro looks nice on their web site so I might give that a go and thank you for the link, very handy.
cubsur I've got a 3 broadband card but i can only use it in the uk because apparently they are mega bucks if you roam on them. Some sort of portugese pay as you go card sounds interesting though, I might give that a go
Your Welcome Fritz, hope you enjoy your holiday on the Algarve.
