Thanks to Gemma 33s good advice we went to Firstchoice and asked could we check our bags in and they said we could so for a small fee we had no cases to worry about ...when we were at the firstchoice desk we had such fun with the staff they said they could not take some of our money of us because it was not legal tender . : it was the plastic money from northren ireland (not credit cards )plastic £5 notes I dont know if any of you have ever seen them ...they did take them in the end but that was funny
.
when we got to london we stayed at the Travelodge...we always stay there because a room there is only £26 not each £26 for the 2 of us ..I have stopped at £90 a night hotels and the travelodge is as good as any of them .....they do an all you can eat breakfast for £6 or £7 and it is very good value for money ..
after breakfast we went to the airport and I was shocked it all went so well very fast and before you knew it we were in the departure lounge .... having a few beers as you do ...my sister in law and I spent hours walking round the shops ....before you knew it we were on the plane and on our way to goa all on time no problems at all ....
Sat.the 17th november on the plane through the night
sunday the 18th november
The airport was really quick this time nothing had changed so I dont know how it was so fast .maybe we are just used to it now ..
Before we went to goa I had asked a taxi driver to pick us up at the airport and he sent me an e mail to say the price would be 1000 rupees ..so I told him what to do with his taxi ........however when we go out of the airport and went to the place to get a taxi they said a taxi was 1300 rupees ..I went mad and said no way its 700 ..no more but they said the bridge was closed and today it was 1300 so we asked a few drivers about the price and they all said the same so we went to the hotel on the bus and it took over 3 hours ..
When we got to our hotel the prazeres we were showed to our room it was fine it was betterr that I thought it was going to be after reading on H/T some not so good things about the hotel I was happy enough not matching curtians and bed clothes but we are in goa we had a quick shower got our beach stuff on and went in to calangute ...to our favourite beach shack Tipsy the look on the lads who work at the shack when they see you ...is a look I often think of they be so happy to see you ..we always bring them shirts and I love to watch them swap and change over and over to see who gets what shirt .... ..we had a brill day there the shack was not even really built yet but we had a sun bed we had lovely food and nice cool beer and the sun was shinning what more could we want .
That night we went to the stonehouse the food was very good they had music on and we had a good night there but by 11 o clock my sister in law and her hubby wanted to go to bed ....when hubby and I got to our room hubby said do you want to go for a night cap somewhere so off we went back to the main street we went to the Haveli bar (sp) because there were a few people in it
when we were sitting ther my hubby said to me I think thats lin.b sitting behind you so i listened to her talking and I knew right away it was her I had met lin b last year but will she remember me ......I went over and said are you lin.. and she said ohhhh colleen hello how are you she asked us to join them and we never got back to our room to 3.30 in the morning I would have to say we had a brill first day in goa ...... (sorry about my spelling ..colleen
