Actually I would prefer him to answer my question. His original post gave an opinion, it didn't state how he arrived at that, so given that he's now told us he has just returned from the Costa Brava I was interested in some broad facts. If he chooses not to expand on his post then that's for him to decide.

Cant comment on the costa brava, however was in Majorca puerta pollensa last year and this year went to cota del sol. (both late may for 10 nights) THE COSTA DEL SOL this year is definately cheaper than majorca was last year and id assume most mainland costas are similar.

Pollensa, I was only pointing out that he'd already replied as I thought you may have missed his post. There is absolutely NO need for you to be so damned rude!

Calm yourself my dear, you're getting excited.

This is not a debating forum though Pollensa1946, you have no right to question why people have gave the opinion or information that they have.

You also appear to jump on anyone who does not agree with your opinion.

Pollensa, you vaildate my point on your rudeness perfectly.

Surely everything we post on here is an "opinion" - thats the whole point.

I would like to say thanks to Pipefitter for his opinion - rather than start taking him "to task" by asking for explanations.

The original question was "is it more expensive in majorca than the costa brava area?"

Pipefitter posted

I am of th opinion that the resorts around the Costa Brava tend to be a little more expensive, and this has been confirmed by Spanish locals I have talked to.

That answers the original question perfectly adequately in my opinion! Why should he have to qualify it by "broad examples" - this isint the classroom we are in, but a helpful holiday forum!

Its nice to be nice surely? :think

Actually I have every right, this being a public forum.

That's exactly what it is.
rather than start taking him "to task" by asking for explanations.

I simply asked how he arrived at that conclusion, that's what this forum is for.

Take a long look at your own posts. Especially the one with the rolling eyes.

You folks should not be on this forum if you can't debate.

if this 'discussion' continues in an unfriendly 'debate', then we will have no alternative but to lock it..

Perhaps number 3 of our terms and conditions needs to be looked at again:

Show respect and courtesy to all other users

Lets please respect one and others opinions.

To be honest, this thread cannot be answered. It can be more expensive in Palma Nova than it is in Magalluf and they are virtually attached. It has a lot to do with rents, competition, etc etc, and frankly little, if anything to do with transport costs.

A Bar will always charge as much as he can get away with. As a Bar owner I used to get "Premium" British Beers at virtually the same price as I could get a local brew, but I charged more, because I knew people would pay it. The quality of the Beer was invariably better, and I kept a cheap local brew for those who were more price conscious, but served it in a smaller glass (just like all the Spanish Bars did) but given a choice the vast majority would pay a little more and get a brighter, fresher pint rather than (often) a dull, flat 50 cl glass of local beer of vastly variable quality.

My wife and I popped into a local Bar tonight after a busy day at work, and paid 1.50 a pint. We could have driven into Palma and paid 3 times that for exactly the same drink.

Also Mallorcian Bars could at one time expect a longer season than their Costa Brava counterparts, alas that is no longer the case!

Can't argue with a word you said, Goodfellow, sums it up perfectly.
