I have had stuff made for myself while in Goa with great experiences, but I travel to Goa without my OH (no real reason other than it for us it is traditional girly holiday - and he does't fit the criteria!!).
He is in need of a new suit, if I took one of his with me would it be reliable to have it replicated and the size be ok? I think he trusts me as to material etc!!?? Anyone tried this before??
ps -have promised to take him to Goa one day and show him our "secret"
if you are near calangute i have the directions to a tailor who may be able to help,if you know hari ohms
big shop on the road to calangute with the elephants out side on the road from st anthonys chapel to calangute town just before it up a couple of steps is a tailors and a coffin maker side by side try him the tailor that is not the coffin maker unless you want to get your husband a different type of suit
Sorry OH if you get to see this, only jokng, love you and miss you when I'm away - honestly!! xx
hi just having a break at work 1-30am i need the dosh for rupees, just thought of another possibly better option tailor at the back door exit of the 99/-rupee shop in calagute town in the alley opposite the cafe(may be called rock cafe not sure)is a european type tailor always has a sign outside i would have a look there
Scorpion Tailors in Candolim will copy it for you - they're very good. But have you seen the price of suits in Tesco??
Forget tescos Asda have a suit for £19.
But you can't beat a hand stitched suit that looks like it has come from Savile Row!!!
Really recommend Classic Tailors opposite Ticolo Resort near Calengute Roundabout. Dilip the owner a lovely guy and will make anything you want at reasonable price
I have been using Zorro for several years opposite the T-Shirt guy on the Candolim Beach Road - he is about 2 minutes walk from Candolim beach. I can't recommend him highly enough. He can make anything, from blouses to suits to dresses. He always uses the best quality fabrics, crepe de chine, lightweight wool, raw silks in a full range of colours and although his prices could give Tesco and Asda a run for their money you will end up looking like something off the catwalk ! Best part is that he is really patient and will let you know exactly what is possible.
Please don't confuse with the other Zorro on Candolim Beach Road (on the same side as the T-shirt guy) - you definitely want to find Zorro OPPOSITE the T-shirt guy. Nothing is too much trouble and he has lots of good reccommendations and tips if you need a hand with anything. His store is beautiful and has a great ambience - you will not want to leave.
If you've got any questions let me know.
I've had suits and shirts made for me at PR Enterprises in Baga, its close to Brittos, I have always found the quality to be excellent, this year I took a my son's favourite jacket with me and had it copied. The copy is far superior to the original, he also fixed up the original at no cost.
She has trouble finding clothes to fit as she has a small waist, and shortish legs. She gave us a pair of jeans that fitted with instructions to make the legs 2 inches shorter, we had a pair of trousers made of cashmere wool, very smart.
She could not believe how well they fitted when we got home.
Thanks everyone for all your information, think I will take the chance of having suit made for OH - least I can do as I have been allowed to go away with my friends for last few years!! - treat him nice and I might be able to go again at end of year lol!!
I think Mac tailors in Candolim is run by the father of the guy who runs Macs at the Nizmar (which is still there, been there for years). Macs at the Nizmar makes great shirts (my friends husband has had several from him) and I have seen some lovely suits supplied by him, I have a couple of lovely "designer labelled" dresses too. He will copy your own favoured design. My husband wanted some cargo trousers made with angled pockets (so his money wouldn't keep falling out when sitting down) and he made 2 pairs - hubby was very pleased with them. Personally I would only go to Macs now.
Can anybody advise on average prices for a mans 2 piece, work suit?
Just for the record Pauls Tailors also made excellent garments. I had white linen cut off trousers made and we had some beautiful gents hand made shirts made for Christmas presents.
ilovegoa mac's is still at the Nizmar i was in there a few weeks ago
He has all the latest moss bros debenhams and many more catalogues and you can chose the style you want.
Don't forget to haggle
