Hi all, i am not a suit person as a rule, have hired for daughters wedding, had one in 82 for our wedding.
i have one or two special events coming up and thought go on lets look the part, i now there are tailors
all over goa....my point is how do you decide which one you want do they have a book/samples etc, etc, so
we can look at,are they famous names...armarni,d&g,prada...etc,etc....really want something special. what sort
of price are we looking at, not that it matters, willing to pay that little bit extra for something nice.....i will be
bringing my personal stylist with me so we will need to impress her as she will be sitting next to me at these events.
looking forward to your replys....please...we are there from the 29th at the marina dourado for two weeks.
thanks Gavin..
Macs tailors at the Marinha Dourada is very good - had three suits from him and a hand made dress for mmy wife the last time we were there - the quality was excellent and the fit perfect..the one suit i have worn for work near enough every day for 2 years and its still looks like new whens its been dry cleaned...i think we paid around 350 pound for the lot...which for made to measure suits for my size is bloody excellent...i had copies of a versace and hugo boss for myself - he even puts all the correct labels inside to match....
One thing to note is that most of the Kashmiri shops use the same tailors, the guys in most of the shops don't even know how to take measurements properly. I had a dress made years ago by a shop on Baga Rd and they just couldn't get it right. In the end they brought the tailor down to do the measurements himself.
GFF xx
When we were at the MD one of the guests showed us a leather jacket the taylor there had made for her OH copying a material one he liked. It was spot on, lovely soft leather and it cost £50 I was sorry it was nearly the end of our holiday or I would have had something made in leather off him. Several other guest were also getting suits made for a wedding.
thaks again...Gavin.
ooops we will try thanks...Gavin.
I used the tailor in the Lagoa Azul and I was impressed by the quality - I could have gotten cheaper - the tailors in the bigger hotels must be ok or they wouldn't be allowed to trade from them(maybe?)
Well it seems that the tailor at the MD is quite good and as a consequence I will be engaging his services for a couple of suits whilst I'm there.
Great for mens trousers, suits etc. rubbish for ladies clothes.
Nothing fitted right even after tailor hiself came to do fitting.
I know this is slightly and I hope I dont get into trouble from Fiona but there is also a great little gift shop at the Lagoa Azul. Just on the right hand side and it sells really gorgeous ladies shoes, bags, purses etc. The stuff is as modern and good quality as you would get in the UK. Also the stuff wasnt any of the usual tat that you pick up from beach sellers and some small market stalls.
Thanks Gemma will have a look when we come to visit the north from the south, as soon as you mentioned bags i'm there.
Gemma that great bit of info will look when we are there at xmas,
its always good to let people know where the bargains are no matter if its bags, shoes, suits in fact anything
..............thanks Gavin.
But the tailors at the MD has a fantastic reputation so I am sure you wont be disappointed
The best cloths to look for are either Raymond or Reid & Taylor
Hi Gemma,
you will have to show me this shop when we meet at easter I am realy looking forward to it, meeting you i mean
Plus i am sure you can fill me in on lots of places to buy eat and drink,
See you soon take care.

Hi gemma just came back lagoa azul, the little shop you are on about i think has gone, there was a little jewelers next to tailors,i did notice a couple of pairs of ladies shoes in tailors, but then the hotel has been verry quite.
The taxi driver I use all the time sits at the Lagoa Azul I will ask him whats happened to the shop. Thats a shame but thanks for letting me know.
Gemma check what i have said out,i only stood at doorway and asumed it was only a tailors had some nice shirts and suits in window the owner used to come round pool touting for buisness,i dont want to give you duf information.
