I will do Lee, I know that yet another opinion does not help that much when you don't know the people yourself but I do that they're decent people so on that basis I am hoping that it's okay for you aswell.

Initial thoughts seem to be okayish for them but I guess a couple more days of the food, seeing the entertainment and tasting the evening alcohol will give a better picture.

I will let you know if I hear anything else and if not I will still text them again before you go to see if everythings still okay.

Hi again Lee,

My friend just texted and said to pass the message on to you to bring a bottle of bleach over! She also said to tell you that the food and drink is okay and for you to refuse to take a room on the 5th floor as everyone is saying that the air conditioning does not work up there.

On a serious note I am of course assuming that the place is not very clean looking but the family does have very valid health reasons for not risking staying in a total dump. On that note it can't be that bad she also works in the food industry doing the same job as me and we work to very high standards so know the rights from wrongs.

From all the reviews you won't be expecting anything special and by the sounds of it that's certainly the right attitude to have but hopefully it will all turn out to be okay for you. The temps are in the 50's minimum aswell so at least you have the lovely weather.

I hope that it all works out for you :sun2 and please let us know how you got on when you get back.

Many thanks for taking the time to update me - much appreciated! As I read your message I was watching the hotel on sky travel - funny how it looks amazing! I wonder how much commision they get for selling it!

I think we have resigned ourselves to the fact that whatever the hotel is like we are going to make the most of turkey, afterall we are only there for a week, and we plan to eat out at night anyway - there is a beach 300 yrds away and plenty of places to eat so hopefully unless things are really really bad we will get by...!

We did request via the travel agent for a low-level room, because I remember being told that the air-cond wasnt good on 5 - maybe that was the agent? Perhaps alarm bells should have rang then!

Fingers crossed, we go in the morning - watch this space for an update when we get back!

Lee what did you think then?

My friends returned yesterday and sure enough after being there for the two weeks have decided that the bad reviews were mostly correct especially regarding the place being dirty. She also said that many guests just had the attitude that it's okay and you just get used to the dirt :yikes

I suppose on that note at least TC are not selling the holiday anymore which sounds like a good move.

Hi - what can I say - well my review on Trip Advisor will say it all - I wrote it 2 days ago and I'm just wiating for it to be published.

Whilst we met some great people there - the place is an absolute s*** hole and anyone that can accept that must live in a right dump of a place themselves.

My wife is still suffering with gastroenteritis as a result of this holiday (you only contract this by comsuming bad bacteria) and I expect a lot of complaints - the reps actually ran out of complaint forms - that says alot!

Whats your friends name / party description - I'm curious to know who they were - or where were they sat?

I have PM'd you the details Lee, I think the problem was initially my friends were trying to find some positives after working hard to pay to go there etc but then of course the reality struck hard. They said exactly the same that it was not acceptable at all and they wonder what peoples homes are like. They got chatting to a family on the flight home though who were upset that they had only booked ten days and not the fortnight as they loved it :que

I am the type of person who would have been complaining straight away(as I have done before on nightmare holidays) but sadly not everyone has that in them and they do just make do and put up with it.

(Oh and my friend was also ill for the last five days, and then it passed on to the rest of the party)

We were the same - we thought we're going to make the most of this - and we did - ut it really was a filthy cr&p holE and anyone that can say it was clean and well maintained..well....I'm actually lost for words!

Not sure if my review will get posted here - as I do make comments about hotel staff - as they were a diaserous part of the holiday - therefore if this is allowed (?) I ahve also posted the link to another review site here

Brilliant review Lee, you have covered everything and left no stone unturned in your full description.

Your resort info was the icing on the cake aswell for me as we had booked Marmaris for next year(different hotel) we never ever fancied Turkey though and have never been before just the price tempted us. Goodbye naff flights, long transfers and general worries and hello Benidorm again as I have literally just changed our holiday with Thomas Cook and we are going AI back there instead.

So thanks for that :)

Stardust - that's the same reason we were tempted and booked turkey but I'm seriously glad you have changed your mind! Better to be sure your going to have a good holiday!

I've been following this topic with great interest .That was one of the best and most comprehensive reviews I have read in a long time . I'm sorry it was for all the wrong reasons though . Don't be put off of Turkey Leeh & stardust .They have some of the best A/I accomodation there in Europe ,I've been to a few . In fact I would say the quality on offer very hard to beat . Unfortunately you picked a wrong en :cry Armed with that unfortunate experience you would be unlikely to make the same mistake twice .
Marmaris is not a resort I would choose but I know many would disagree .

Are you going to persue a claim or chalk it down to experience .

I am certainly persuing a claim - in all honesty I think it is a disgrace that ANY tour operator (nevermind the so called giants Thomas Cook) could sell this to a family and go to bed at night! Unless they have a crooked bed that is!

Its a complete shambles and my review really doesnt do it justice. There were alot of claimants and so I expect Thomas Cook to be inundated. I will be following up now that I'm home as my wifes diagnosis didnt come to light until we got home, but not only is it affecting our homelife now, but it ruined her holiday even more - all this brought on by an unhygenic hotel.

Unfortunately, I am turned off Turket forever, and would rather not have a holiday then go back there

I've just read your review Lee and I'm sorry to hear it wasn't good and some of your family became ill. This place sounds like a good case for Watchdog and I find it hard to believe with all the bad reviews operators are still sending people to this hotel. I hope your family will be feeling better soon and you manage to get some sort of compensation out of them.

Does anyone know if I should do something to follow it up before hand though?
