thats just what i am going to do. drink and chill out
Unless we are categorically told by the authorities that we cannot fly to a destination, we go.
Like many other people we save for a long time to afford a holiday and I refuse to let something like this ruin it. As people have said, there is as much risk of anything happening anywhere including on your home turf.
I just hope it doesn't affect flights too much - for some reason I have been anticipating long delays and not an easy trip anyway before this was announced. Don't know why, just a feeling in my water....!
Here's hoping that everyone going to Goa, whatever time of the year, has a fantastic time
have a great holiday!
I think it will be highly unlikely anything will happen regarding the terrorist threat in Goa. As the Isreali media already announced that was to take place over the new year, it is highly unlikely to happen as the terrorist plan is exposed and security will be major. However, customs checks will more likely be longer and stepped up though.
In Navhind Times today.
Anjuna flea market to close untill middle of January, because of Terror Threats, is this just gossip anyone know if it is true?
Got back from Goa in the early hours after a months holiday and I can tell you we heard nothing about Anjuna and I think if anyone tried to close it they might get lynched.
Danny
We have just got back (approx 30 mins ago) & our regular taxi drive told us this morning, that the the markets would be shut for xmas & New Year also the nightclubs due to terrorist threats.
Don't want to alarm anyone, just responding to the question asked.
AJ
The 'source' that the Israeli's used states that 'dry runs' had already been carried out, hence the heightened warning. Whether that's any use to anybody, I'd hate not to mention it and something happen.
Yes todays gossip says that there will be no flea market next wednesday, or saturday markets. This also throws doubt on parties and clubs I imagine. I also hear that up to 100 flights from uk have been cancelled due to no demand. Anybody else heard this?
A couple of people have told me that there is a bomb threat for goa for xmas and new year. im travelling on the 29th. does anybody know much about this. is this just a roumor or is there any truth to this???
there's some links on a thread further down (Israel....)
Flippin ecK! Not heard anything about it other than on this forum. Even did a google news search and nothing came up yesterday. This sucks. I'm going in feb hope its all calmed down by then!

Well i hope not!! Im going on Saturday.
I rang Mytravel yesterday and they said they have not been told of anything regarding problems at Dabolim airport. Ive had a look on the foreign office website and nothing on there also.
I will still be turning up with my bags to Gatwick and will enjoy my flight.
Christmas will be spent in the wonderful Goan sunshine drinking Kingfishers and Honeybee

I have merged 3 threads together.
After the bombings in Bali I always suspected Goa would soon become a target, realisticaly it probably is, as was London and Madrid. Rumours do nothing but panic people and are probably started by the terrorists themselves, they have achieved their aim of panic now and obviously the authorities have to act. Major venues may well have to be closed during this period as a precaution but it`s not the end of the world, Goa will still party on no matter what.
Maybe we get a little complacent when we visit Goa and this serves as a reminder that these people can and will strike anywhere ? Just be that little more vigilant and a little more patient with the extra security measures and I`m sure all these threats will come to nothing , well I hope and pray they don`t . Don`t let them win, enjoy your holidays and be safe

Good point. In a smaller way I have to work out how much the Goa forum can be taken over with the discussion of threats. I do believe people must take heed of warnings and do what they think they need to, to keep safe. If people are opting not to go, then I for one would not be blaming them. It is up to individuals to make their decisions and you should not be swayed into doing anything you are not comfortable with. I went to Bali in the summer of 2005, not long before the second bombings and am going next summer but I am not going to the busy resorts. That is my compromise!
Back to the forum- discussion is important but I will try to keep them merged to this thread.
http://www.dailyindia.com (Goa section) gives updates of various articles in the local news (not just the threats)
but saw lots of police all carrying guns walking about, they were
also on the beach on saturday and stopping at a few of the shacks
looking around on the beach,it was scary but at least they are trying.
most of the traders say its very quiet for this time of the year,we had
50 empty seats on our flight back into Manchester, but it was full when
we went on the 27th nov.still we had a great time but glad to be home
safe, hope it all blows over as we hope to go back at the end of Feb.
hope all of you out there are having a great time,we sure did.

I'm going out on Feb 5th and I'll be if I let the spoil my time off.
