Yes I have to drag the kids back in January for theirs Well worth it though for peace of mind I feel and they have no problem with jabs as I explain how beneficial they are, not even an ouch usually but then again they ar well bribed with lollies
At our surgery it was two Hep A's within a year to give cover for 10 years.
iloveholidays - I'm afraid they are not always free on the NHS! You have to pay a lot of money for immunisations at our NHS GP!
recommended by our GP. You do not have to have the jabs. It is up to you to decide if you think the risk of not having them is worth it or not.
I would say go to your surgery and find out what they recommend, and then make up your mind if you're going to take their advice or not.
I do know of a woman who didn't get any jabs. She ended up in hospital with Typhoid, and was seriously ill for a long time.
We have always had to pay for them at our surgery.
We've been going to Turkey for 20 years now, and have always had the jabs which were I would say go to your surgery and find out what they recommend, and then make up your mind if you're going to take their advice or not.

Ours were all free at our GP's.
mehmeh, your gp is comitting fraud then cos they are reimbursed the money from the goverment for most travel jabs only ones you have to pay for are yellow fever, rabies jap encephaltitis and men acwy
Well, Tishtosh had to pay too and others earlier in this discussion, so I think anyone who gets them free should count themselves lucky!
Diptheria, Tetanus & Polio
Hep A & Typh
I had all of them and the kids just had to have Junior Hep A & Typh. If we go back in six months for a booster then the Hep A lasts six years.
It was free on the NHS.
Our practice nurse gives us a prescription for what we need and we pay the prescription fee at the chemist. Just over £6 per item.
Sorry for my confusion Bridd, but surely you do not inject yourself
Pamplemousse
Still very confused. We just made an appointment with the nurse who had the vaccines, amazing how different surgeries operate.
The practice keeps a certain amount in stock in case there's a long wait at the chemist shop. If a patient uses the practice's own stock, they then replace it with their own when they can get to the chemist shop.
Hope that's clearer.
What a palava for you Bridd. You can imagine my visualisation of you doing your own vaccines
No chance. Even worse would be me doing those of my kids!!!!
My jabs were free and I have just had the three yearly call to the Surgery, which when I lived in bedfordshire only came every 5 years.
Hi I have just had the recomended vaccinations but Ive heard that the place Im going to (holiday villiage) has lots of mosquitos does this mean I need the malaria tablets? Has anyone else been there and needed them? Thankyou.
No malaria in Turkey so don't worry. Take anti-bite stuff though!
we are off to side, turkey next week and we had our vaccinations last week and didnt have to pay anything, not even a prescription charge. we live in sussex.
both adults had hep a, dip, polio, tetnus, typhoid.
kids only hep a, as typhoid was classed as low risk so nurse didnt want to give the kids another jab if it not necessary.
hep a booster in six months time lasts 10 years.
all have a great holiday.
