baldur are there any jelly fish in golden sands at the moment?
Reply
Baldur will be in his villa which is inland and not near Golden Sands, nor a computer.

I don't think jelly fish are a major problem in Bulgaria, but a lot depends on weather conditions, tides etc.

Normally you will find some when there is a storm about, I have been assured by my Bulgarian friends they do not sting, like I said after a storm you will find the odd few washed up on beach and I have seen kids bisecting them. Tonyt

According to various sources its jelly fish mating season in September guess when I am going sigh!!!!

Don't know if jelly fish have a 'mating season' as such. They only live from 3 to 6 months, so an annual event is unlikely.

Have tried to find out on the internet and failed miserably.

I was at Camchia (sp) beach on Sunday there were jelly fish there but not the deadly type.... and Albena on Friday there were none then. Apparently the sea was very rough at St Konstantine on Saturday. Just to cheer you all up rain is forecast for here (Varna) tomorrow. Hope this post works have just tried to send a long one on the Albena thread but it failed....

When we were at sunny beach last month there were different things in the sea every day! First day we were in the sea there were little fishies and little insects that looking a bit like a centipede swimming about, they nipped a bit but it wasnt sore. Te next day there were white jelly fish that put me off swimming. Another time it was full of seaweed, so expect to see a mixture in the sea!

Hi All

How concerned do we need to be about jellyfish? We are going to elenite but will go to Sunny beach, i hear they have an issue with them? If one of us do get stung, do we need to go to hospital or the doctors?

Thanks in advance

I don't think it's a major issue in the Black Sea any more than elsewhere in Europe.

Hi
Have just had a look in the sunny beach resort reports, lots of people saying they are loads of Jellyfish and some have been stung is this covering the whole of the beach area or just in parts

What about people with young children paddelling?

If there are jellyfish about, don't paddle!

You should see some washed up on the beach if they are around.

Hi Peter

the other thing to remember about the jelly fish that you sometimes see in bulgaria are that they can be very small and usually spotted around the piers or jetties. and dont usually cause any problems :? :)

Hi all
Im visiting Bulgaria next month on the 24th so i have been searching all the holiday forums regarding Bulgaria. We are staying in the marina Royal Palace in Duni. After looking at these other sites I just came across this review from a lady who stayed there last week

Regarding Jellyfish: We had been warned about an abundance of jelly fish in the sea at the resort and sadly it was not an exageration, there were loads which rather put us off swimming in the sea but as the pool area is enormous and there are several pools to choose from it really wasn't a problem.

Hopefully when we get there the problem will have sorted itself out, mind you if they know the Welsh are arriving I think they will pack up their tenticles and shoot off lol. Will give you all a full review on my return :P

Im sure I saw somewhere that there are lots of Jelly Fish along the beach - is that right? is it a good idea to get those swim shoe things and take them or are they easy enough to get?

Sounds odd I know, but what's the sea like for fishes coming in close?

Amy gets freaked easily by fishes swimming too close but if it's fairly "fish free" near the shore then I think we would manage to get her in for a float!!
